Often comedy shows like "The Daily Show" come closer to the truth than the daily press. We urge you to review this commentary from Lewis Black, aired on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, in which NRA Executive Vice President claims that he doesn't know what a terrorist watch list is and that it shouldn't prevent potential terrorists from buying guns, big guns, guns that can shoot down planes landing and taking off:

Also, if you missed the second "60 Minutes" piece on the terrorist danger posed by America being the "candy store" (according to a former U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms top official), here is the link:

i just noticed that my fingers got faster then my eyes on that post :-)
LOL No problem. Just saw some irony in "accurately" being spelled incorrectly.
That's the problem: no one knows what a so-called "terrorist watch list" is, how names are added, how names are removed, and what is done with people who share names. If there was sufficient evidence to make an arrest, then the government ought to arrest the alleged terrorists. If there isn't...
If a real Bad Guy is on the list, and a firearms sale is denied or any other government disapproval occurs, that can tip off the Bad Guy that he is indeed under suspicion, allowing him to go to ground and evade capture.
Terrorist working at the airports is a bigger threat than terrorists with .50 cal rifles.
You could take down a plane with a .22 if you hit the right spot.
Ted Kennedy was on a 'terrorist watch list' a few months back remember? That fat slob has the political clout to have his name removed. Heaven help you if you as an average citizen are mistakenly placed on one of those watch lists.
---as sort of an aside to the anti-.50BMG propaganda, during WW 2, in both the European and Pacific theatres, 12000 rounds of .50 cal ammo was expended per enemy fighter shot down---
Then you are good and royally screwed!
I was reading somewhere on another thread that I cant find now that there is a website that describes how many bullets had to be fired from the old world war two 50 caliber machine guns to bring down the single engine japanese zeros flying at pretty much ground level going 180 miles an hour and it was something like 12,000 rounds for every single engine plane brought down. But these people at 50 caliber terror would have the sheeple believe that some jonny jihad that has probably never fired anything more powerful then an ak 47 in his life will walk to the end of a airport runway without being seen or stopped and take out a gun aim and shoot at a 4 engine jumbo jet with triple reduntancys on every single feature of that plane and with one single well placed shot bring it down in a firey crash killing all on board its almost the same odds as winnig two powerball lottos in a row.
you beat me to it do you know where the website is that has al lthose stats on it i cant find it right now
It also took about 12000 rounds of ack-ack (German anti-aircraft cannon) per Allied bomber shot down--
...or a laser, or 2 Ted Kennedys on one plane, or a goose
gone astray, or ...
2 teds sitting on the same side of a plane = bad news.
Personally, I find the Barrett M82A1 to be a nice hunting rifle. You never know when you are going to be charged by an armor plated pig.
