I think it's safe to say the Sierra Times is full of nutjob conspiracy theorists, and thus, no need to worry about being banned from there. In fact, if I were, I'd take it as a badge of honor.
I'd never been there before, so, looking around, the first thread I read was about 9/11, and how it was an "inside job". In five minutes I not only came across a thread that claimed 9/11 was an inside job by "neocons and possibly with Mossad help", I came across such a thread that wasn't posted today, or yesterday, but a YEAR ago, and was still there! (not pulled) Indeed, many of the posts weren't critical of the original at all! LOL
Um, thanks, but no thanks. If that's an indication of what the "group think" is there, then, well if I were you tadowe, I wouldn't be worried at all about the hypocrisy of their banning practices. I'd be happy to be banned from a site like that, and indeed, I believe with opinions like that generally accepted there, I think Henrietta has more to worry about than hyopcritical banning practices!
Being critical is one thing...being an assclown about it is a whole other matter.

In fairness to Mad Mammoth, your post and first comment were quite confusing. It was hard to tell if you were talking about sierrasux.com or FR from one sentence to the next.

Are you "insulted" by my comments? That is too bad, but consider the reality that I am not anymore responsible for your "feelings" than I am for the misunderstanding of the others in here who jump to stupid conclusions (not that yours were, btw).
You are making it a little difficult for people defending you here to like you. When somebody "nit-picks" your use of indefinite articles as a means of trying to clear up misunderstandings and offer you friendly and constructive advice on how to prevent future misunderstanding, that really doesn't call for the type of responses you have directed to this and similar posters.
You asserted that you are not responsible for the "misunderstanding of the others in here who jump to stupid conclusions." While that is true, one of the qualities of a good writer is that he takes responsibility for preventing misunderstandings of the reader. In other words, a good writer makes a conscious effort to ensure that his words are clear and his intent is clearly communicated. A careful reading of your original post would indicate you were criticizing the other site's hypocrisy and not FR. However, your intent would have been clearer had you been a bit more specific in who you were talking about. As it was written, it is easy to see how readers misunderstood -- a result of their lazy reading and your lazy writing.
As for your contention that the people who jumped into this thread with their jpegs and comments are the real "trolls", most of these posters have well established their credentials as conservatives and they enjoy identifying and ridiculing the trolls who attempt to register on FR to post their idiotic and disruptive comments. You got caught up in their enthusiasm when a few people misinterpreted your post. Learn from it and work on using your writing skills to communicate more clearly when you post, and you will probably make some good friends.

I, (fill in the blank) was a Freeper and or lurker (for many, many years before I finally signed up), but I ceased posting when Freerepublic.com founder Jim Robinson first began censoring and banning members for (fill in the blank).
Plus:
I was a life long Republican until the evil and dumb GW became president. I quit being a Republican when GW did or allowed this __________________________ to happen.
Maybe Jim can have John Rob create a special "Losers in Life" section, where the whining axis of losers can post these forms.
I went over and read the thread..at least a page or two..You were banned there and are unhappy...
Free Republic has been declared over by many sites...There is room for many many voices and I am thrilled people have many outlets. Freedom of speech does not exist on
any forum but the one you personally own.
I remember when we had a long freepathon and another site was gleeful,FR was over..ST seems to indiate short ones are indicative of a takeover by dark forces..FR is over..
I can only keep up with FR and do not visit other sites except for entertainment purposes...Thanks for the entertainment.

From my experience, people have been banned at other members request, or demand.(strong word). Some things are inappropriate and not germain to what Freerepublic.com is all about. As with polite company, you respect each others feelings and personal beliefs. We are supposed to civilized here.
Somethings I do not agree with, but we must all treat each other with respect.
