I get SOOOOO tired and exasperated at so many of these people talking about Terri as though she is vegetative. I lost a friend last November who was in a vegetative state for 4 days before she died. Her eyes were open, she was breathing by machine, and there was nothing and I mean nothing alive about her. It was one of the most wrenching things I've ever experienced.
For those who HAVE NOT familiarized themselves with Terri's situation, follow the links and educate yourselves. I'm sick of people speaking on this forum about her who have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE about her situation. Your UNINFORMED opinion is NOT needed, NOT wanted, and NOT helpful. Watch the videos on the links provided and you will see a severely brain damaged woman responding on a very basic level. You will NOT see a woman who is vegetative or in a coma. If you want to have Terri killed anyway due to her problems, just be consistent and say that you would like ALL people like her killed as well. And don't say we should defer to the family. THE FAMILY OF THIS WOMAN IS BEING SHUT OUT. And this is being done by the man who though still "technically" married to her has fathered two children out of wedlock and is living with their mother.
It could not be more obvious that this woman needs more time. I heard the woman on CNN earlier today saying that Terri was going to be given pain medication. PAIN medication!!! Where are the questions from the evil brain dead media? Why does a "vegetative" woman in a "coma" need PAIN medication?
As the situation stands, Terri's parents contend that her tragedy began under mysterious circumstances, that her husband may have had a violent past that she may have been victim to, and that Michael Schiavo has motive to want her dead beyond his stated desire to "keep her wishes." Furthermore, they think that Terri may be rehabilitated to a point if given the opportunity (which thus far she has not). WHY will they not be allowed to take care of this woman?! If she is in a vegetative state, what the heck difference will it make to her anyway? THINK people on the evil or uninformed side of this!!!

I pray something can be done to save her. But I fear the worst since the Democrats, MSM, and these rotten liberal judges rule America. This is the Senate page where they were trying to sneak in tax hikes in the legislation to prevent Terri from starving. These people are disgusting, and should be remembered forever for what they've done.
What is Coma and Persistent Vegetative State?
A coma is a profound or deep state of unconsciousness. An individual in a state of coma is alive but unable to move or respond to his or her environment. Coma may occur as a complication of an underlying illness, or as a result of injuries, such as head trauma. A persistent vegetative state (commonly, but incorrectly, referred to as "brain-death") sometimes follows a coma. Individuals in such a state have lost their thinking abilities and awareness of their surroundings, but retain non-cognitive function and normal sleep patterns. Even though those in a persistent vegetative state lose their higher brain functions, other key functions such as breathing and circulation remain relatively intact. Spontaneous movements may occur, and the eyes may open in response to external stimuli. They may even occasionally grimace, cry, or laugh. Although individuals in a persistent vegetative state may appear somewhat normal, they do not speak and they are unable to respond to commands.
The small video clips are a biased sample. If a laugh happened to occur during a joke, it was considered a response...but what about the hours of time when no responses--or totally inappropriate responses--were given? Those parts weren't shown.
Many people see what they want...some even see faces in the clouds or on the moon, but that doesn't mean they are there. What's most important is that the person closest to this woman--not just physically or emotionally, but also legally--has testified that she wouldn't want to be kept this way. We shouldn't judge her preferences based on what we would want. Who here has any right to interfere in that marriage and say he would know better than her husband what she would have wanted?
And finally...it seems that it's the anti-Schiavo/pro-Schindler crowd that is ignorant of what PVS looks like.
That's particularly true of various 'freepers', just in my opinion. I was literally kicked off a thread for suggesting action might be taken in this case, by 'W'.
We are surrounded by a culture of death. The fight for freedom is never easy. But we fight on, not despairing, even when our own supposedly 'friendly' forums become something akin to a DU-nightmare.

Even if Terri were to get up and do a song and dance now I doubt CNN, MSNBC, CBS or ABC would bother to show it. Their agenda is to side with those who are hell bent on seeing this woman die.
Then tell MS to give us an "unbiased" sample showing her in a vegetative state. Why doesn't he do this - maybe because he's been lying all this time????? Oh please, he left his wife when he decided to shack up with his concubine/carrier. He ended their marriage years ago. To think this is some private matter is ridiculous.
BTW: I've seen PVS, and Terri isn't it!!! Experienced it in my own family, and yes, they can recover.
I am not in favor of murder at all. If anyone has clear and compelling evidence that shows this was not her will, then let it be made public and I will be the first to fight for whatever course she would have preferred.

Presumptively, human beings want to live and others must accept that reality. Our founding political documents acknowledge as much. You rightly shift the presumption to others-- prove she wants to live right now. there are reports today that she said "I waaaa . . ." in reponse to this exact demand.
Nonetheless, Terri Schiavo does not have to prove anything to anyone in order for the moral integrity of her life to be respected.
You show us why she should be put death in a manner no other human being would suffer in similar political circumstances.
Apparently, you are the one that is uniformed. Even her parents' experts have agreed that she does NOT respond to visual cues.
The woman shouldn't have to prove she wants to live any more than you should have to prove you want to live. The right to life is guaranteed under our Constitution. One of the things required is that it be proven she doesn't want (or declared she wouldn't want) the feeding tube. That hasn't been proven. There is compelling testimony that she expressed the wish to continue living and being treated if she were ever severely incapacitated. That evidence was illegally ignored by the judge.
Her wishes are only part of the equation. Her condition is another. It must be proven that she is PVS, or in one of the other conditions required for the removal of a feeding tube. Instead of being proven PVS, she's been proven not to be PVS. The judge ruled, contrary to the testimony of all of the doctors, that she is PVS.

As to why I want to see her dead: for the same reason I would want my wife to pull my feeding tube in the same situation. 15 years is long enough to see any signs of recovery. Let my soul (if you believe in it) free and not condemn me to 15 years in a bed. I would want my wife and family to get on with their lives. I wouldn't want to prolong their burden. I would want my wife to remarry and for my kids to grieve, bury me and then get on with things.
The dispense of expensive Medical resources requires triage. There are other people, with better chances of recovery and a normal life, that deserve that bed and those nurses.
If I am ever in that situation I sure hope you people will stay the hell out of my life and let the person I married make the decision.

I have a video of David Copperfield making the Statue of Liberty disappear. That video of Terri is as bogus as is any idea that she may one day recover. She will stay in her present non responsive condition but that's okay. She should be left to do so if there are willing and financially able caretakers.
