I get SOOOOO tired and exasperated at so many of these people talking about Terri as though she is vegetative. I lost a friend last November who was in a vegetative state for 4 days before she died. Her eyes were open, she was breathing by machine, and there was nothing and I mean nothing alive about her. It was one of the most wrenching things I've ever experienced.
For those who HAVE NOT familiarized themselves with Terri's situation, follow the links and educate yourselves. I'm sick of people speaking on this forum about her who have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE about her situation. Your UNINFORMED opinion is NOT needed, NOT wanted, and NOT helpful. Watch the videos on the links provided and you will see a severely brain damaged woman responding on a very basic level. You will NOT see a woman who is vegetative or in a coma. If you want to have Terri killed anyway due to her problems, just be consistent and say that you would like ALL people like her killed as well. And don't say we should defer to the family. THE FAMILY OF THIS WOMAN IS BEING SHUT OUT. And this is being done by the man who though still "technically" married to her has fathered two children out of wedlock and is living with their mother.
It could not be more obvious that this woman needs more time. I heard the woman on CNN earlier today saying that Terri was going to be given pain medication. PAIN medication!!! Where are the questions from the evil brain dead media? Why does a "vegetative" woman in a "coma" need PAIN medication?
As the situation stands, Terri's parents contend that her tragedy began under mysterious circumstances, that her husband may have had a violent past that she may have been victim to, and that Michael Schiavo has motive to want her dead beyond his stated desire to "keep her wishes." Furthermore, they think that Terri may be rehabilitated to a point if given the opportunity (which thus far she has not). WHY will they not be allowed to take care of this woman?! If she is in a vegetative state, what the heck difference will it make to her anyway? THINK people on the evil or uninformed side of this!!!

This question is humbly submitted by a physician. Providing nutrition through a gastrostomy tube is not really a skilled medical service. You simply open a can (5 or 6 times a day) of an eneteral nutrional supplement and pour it into the gastrostomy tube and add suppplemental water to maintain proper hydration. This can be done at home and was being for Terri at her facility. It is not rocket science. WHY CANNOT TERRI'S PARENTS PROVIDE THIS SERVICE OR ARRANGE FOR THE FACILITY'S STAFF TO CONTINUE THIS SERVICE? A greater challenge is to protect the skin from pressure ulcers, position the patient to avoid aspiraton, maintain joint range of motion, and tend to the patient's comfort and dignity.
It is not unusual for patients to not have an advanced directive and for family members to disagree as to what the patient would have desired. Under such circumstances it seems difficult to select an irreversible pathway that leads to demise when adament family members (especially parents) are ready, willing, and presumably able to support a person with quite simple measures. Am I missing something in this discussion?
I watch CNN about once a millenium. I do it to merely get the left's view. This afternoon Bay Buchannon was on calling a spade a spade with that foul wench Donna Brazil on the other side. Bay said something about why Donna didn't care more about this, and then Donna said why don't Republicans care more about the people who are unjustly on death row. It was a priceless contrast between left and conservative values.
Today in this country there are many brain damaged individuals of various degrees.
Some suffered anoxia at birth. Some from auto accidents.
Since Teri is able to breathe is indicative that she has positive brain waves. Also her heart beats without any assistance. This again is a clear indication that her brain (the SA node)is able to send the electrical impulse to her right atrium causing the heart muscle to contract.
A vegetative state means one is brain dead.

I am watching Chrissy Matthews (I never do but it happened to be on and about Terri)and he said the legislature is working all weekend to help Terri. Rep. Dan Burton is on now and he is talking about what they are trying to do.
I have to admit, Matthews is being more fair than normal. The problem here is alot of people really don't know about Terri and her true condition, they are taking the word of Felos. But I have noticed that Matthews actually is trying to get to the truth and he let Terri's lawyer explain quite a bit. Of course we all know that most demoncrats are cut from evil cloth and no amount of truth will matter to them.

I don't know. So many threads about here but in at least one mention was made a talk show host that stated they tried to include tax hikes. At this point consider it rumor, but if it's proven to be true, yes, it'll be used against them deservedly.
Oh, so to Libs this is about REVENGE? because we let murderers die they are going to let an innocent woman starve to death in a manner more barbaric than what those death row inmates will experience? That is sick.
