Clinton at Davos
The American Thinker ^ | March 6, 2005 | Thomas Lifson

Bill Clinton's remarks at Davos may end being more controversial than Eason Jordan's. Other blogs, especially Little Green Footballs, have been all over the story. Here is the latest.

It is now fully evident that a gloablist left-leaning elite uses Davos as an exercise to get similarly-inclined Americans to denounce their own country and pay homage to the icons of "progressive" politics - meaning, basically, anti-Americanism. How anyone could classify the mullahs of Iran as "progressive" and keep a straight face is beyond my understanding. It demonstrates how illogical and twisted a group the global anti-Americans have become.

Ughhhhhh. This perverted corruptus maximus pops off against America almost as much as Jimmah. I'm getting sick of it. Someone put a cork in these two.

No kidding. I like Billy better when he's in trouble. I'd rather see his teary eyed pleas for forgiveness than his fist shaking Castro style rants. Isn't their any chunky girls out there that still need skin flute lessons, someone that's willing to "take one for the team"?

Not sure if your post is in reference to the Traitor-in-Chief's Charlie Rose interview or not, but if it is I heard Tammy Bruce last night and she played all his comments praising Iran, claiming to be ideologically in step with Iran, and concluding we knowingly (the US) knew that sadam hussein was committing genocide and privately encouraged it. I sent an e-mail to Tammy asking for a transcript. Not only does Clinton praise the dictators but he shows just how ignorant and stupid he is by stating the Iranians fair and honest elections. I suppose just as castro, hugo chavez and sadam hussein conducted fair, honest and open elections. Oh I forgot the peanut farmer did declare the Venezuelan recall election fair. Hope Tammy comes through.

Call me stupid, but I read the Charlie Rose transcript as Clinton saying the majority of the people are liberal in the sense of being more secular, but that the minority, which includes the mullahs, override the wishes and votes of the people. He seems to err in stating that the two sides are in tension with each other; as far as I can see, the mullahs are in total control, but I don't hear him saying the mullahs are progressive.

And we did support Iraq during the 80s, because they were fighting Iran, and "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." And if we had any intelligence over there at all, we must have been aware of what Saddam Hussein was doing.

I'm not saying this to defend Clinton or blast the US. Foreign policy sometimes involves lying down with the dogs. I'm just trying to keep this discussion intellectually honest.
