Terri Schiavo - Why the Rush to Put Her to Death?
CFP ^ | March 4, 2005 | K.L. Marsala

Posted on 03/04/2005 9:14:00 AM PST by MikeEdwards

I demand to know where the human rights and women’s rights groups are over the case of the Floridian woman Terri Schiavo. Where are her civil rights? Did she loose them the moment she could no longer audibly answer or respond for herself? Why do human rights organizations stand and give tirade after tirade to defend the war criminals at Guatanomo Bay, but where are they over a woman supposedly living in a Persistent Vegetative State (PVS) and her rights? Why haven’t the women’s rights groups spoken out against Terri’s "estranged" husband, Michael, who wants to pull the feeding tube and let his wife die a slow death of dehydration and starvation? Shouldn’t Michael’s desire to have his wife die be classified under-spousal abuse? Truly, if this case is a reflection of how Americans are moving forward in handling bio-ethics then we are all screwed.

This case, which should never have become a topic at America’s water coolers, has so many facets and layers to it. When it comes to the topic of bio-ethics, we’ve only begun to lift the lid off a deadly and dangerous box of medical morality.

In 1972, two neurologists stated they had identified a condition of "wakefulness without awareness." This state is caused when a patient, due to head injury, lack of oxygen, degenerative disease, or loss of all upper brain functions- becomes what has been termed Persistent Vegetative State or PVS. This wide-ranging term has delivered only uncertainty in diagnosis, treatment, and ethical decision-making regarding these types of patients. PVS has become one more thing out of the bio-ethics Pandora’s Box that shouldn’t have been opened. . . . .

Why? Cheating, money hungry and potentially violent husband. Money grubbing culture of death lawyer who supports and wants to legalize euthanisia. A liberal, activist judge and Florida Supreme Court.

That's why in a nut shell IMHO.

Would it not be more humane to just put a gun to her head, than starve her to death? Death row inmates are even protected from that type of cruel punishment... how can anyone even consider that type of torture for an innocent? Try it with a prisoner and see what type of outrage there would be. Where is the outrage here?

In 1972, two neurologists stated they had identified a condition of "wakefulness without awareness..."

I think the author meant 1992.

No matter. There is more to this than that. A lot more.

There is no rush.

You are just late to the party.

So get caught up and move on to dinner.

Damn right!

The right to life is the first right mentioned in the Constitution -- certainly more important than the 'right to privacy' which is not even mentioned.

Maybe the other two wife-killers can answer that question:

I agree. They are using the right to privacy in this case, just like they used it to gain abortion rights. These people use *key* words in a bizarre manner.

The Mother of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger not only promoted abortion, but ALSO DEATH TO THE *USELESS EATERS*. She supported Hitler in his Killing of thousands of Disabled and Brain Damaged people. Her other goal was euthanasia.

It's a good question to wonder why our so called Women's Rights Groups, do NOT support Terri's right to Live. Instead they support HINO's right to consider Terri HIS property. I don't know if they are supporting him offically, but their silence is deafening in their NON support of Terri and her parents.

Do you all know the ACLU and AARP also support Michael Schiavo. I'm not surprised by the ACLU. However, I was suprised by the AARP. It tells me what their true Agenda IS. It's getting ridding of the retired as soon as possible. That's their plan to save social security, IMO.

When I read this article today I wondered why tests have not been conducted that could prove that Terri can communicate in some way.

I'm glad to see this one by Kerry Marsala posted again. I posted it from Kerry's website on March 3, if anyone is interested in reading the replies to that posting.

Difficult to believe that Germany has more regard and concern for the severely disabled than does our legal system. According to the link I gave, at least one of the patients was in much worse shape than Terri.

I wonder what Terri would say if they succeeded in finding a way to communicate with her?

"I wonder what Terri would say if they succeeded in finding a way to communicate with her?"

She'd tell the world that Michael smashed her on the head that night, or banged her head into a hard object or surface, and that her condition over the past 15 years is the result of Michael's abuse.

I think Terri's folks should show the article I linked to their legal counsel.
