I pick up today's WaPo out of the snow, and this was the front page image:

Click for bigger.

I don't think that anyone, anywhere, could ask for better imagery. Just look at the placement it got. Even more interesting, there is not a story about the Secretary of State on the front page.

Applauding soldiers, the American flag, stylish in all black - those boots are made for walking, no doubt. I know the editorial board over at the Post loved General Powell, but he never got anything like this.

Dems have had 90% of the black vote..88% in 2004..I believe there are enough who will reject the attacks to vote for her in at least the last election numbers..

I have no idea where I will stand on Republican candidates in the 2008 primary season..I just know I will not be voting dem in the election.

With all due respect, pardner, I'm a conservative too. I vote in primaries. It's my party too. And I will bet you dimes, dollars to doughnuts that most Christian Conservatives. Say, 90% of them, admire and respect Condi Rice. Please don't pretend to speak for all Christian Conservatives. That's just illogical and fatuous.

You don't "own" anybody. You don't "speak" for your "boys" in the "Red States". You can't say that they would sit on their hands and let Hillary into the White House just to prove that if people don't play their ballgame, they will take their ball and go home.

In fact, I strongly suspect that you don't know what your talking about when you peddle stuff like that cornpone above. Citing a poll that show's Hillary Clinton beating Condi Rice by only seven points this early in the game does not exactly prove your point. HRC has been in the news for TWELVE years now.

And she can't even break fifty? Against a woman who just came out of Bush's shadow; who was generally unknown outside of policy circles until a little over a year ago? WE knew who she was, but we're activists. Regular people didn't pay much attention to her until she had been nominated to SOS.

So please, don't pretend to speak for others just quite yet. Meantime; you might sit down and wonder why all us folks over at Team Condi have got all the action after having spent a few thousand bucks on buttons and bumper stickers, while some Senators and Governors are finding out that the serious checks they wrote out to consultants down on K Street aren't exactly paying off. There's bad mojo going among some Republican grandees.

Okay, I accept the fact that you don't like this woman. Fine. You want to pretend that the Republican Party is your personal plaything? Go right ahead. However, do try and remember Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment:" thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican."

Be Seeing You,

Chris

"Is she pro-life?"

No. In 1999 Condi called herself a "pro-choice evangelical."

When questioned about that statement recently, she declined to discuss that interview or her views on social issues.

There's more information about her views here.

People want her so badly that they seem willing to ignore the fact she's a pro-abort, and that the nomination of someone in that camp will tear the party apart.

Will boots beat babies? We'll see.

If she runs, Rice is going to get beaten badly in the GOP primary. Try not to be too bitter.

Blacks are only 13% of the total vote; 88% of 13% is only 11% of voters. If Rice could win all of the black vote that went for Kerry in 2004 (11%), which she cannot even come close to doing, that is nowhere near enough to make up for 20% at least (and most of these are GOP voters, i.e. >=40% of Bush voters) who will never vote for a woman. Condi would lose to Hillary, that's why the MSM will try and push her on the GOP. But I'm not worried about it, because the GOP isn't going to nominate Rice.

Thanks, I thought so. She will lose the pro-life vote, and rightly so. People who push pro-aborts in the GOP race for President cannot be trusted and should be ignored. It's clear that Rice would fail if she ran for the GOP nomination, and fail that badly.
