Dr. Rice Enters the Matrix (Photo)

I pick up today's WaPo out of the snow, and this was the front page image:

Click for bigger.

I don't think that anyone, anywhere, could ask for better imagery. Just look at the placement it got. Even more interesting, there is not a story about the Secretary of State on the front page.

Applauding soldiers, the American flag, stylish in all black - those boots are made for walking, no doubt. I know the editorial board over at the Post loved General Powell, but he never got anything like this.

I could be wrong about it, but I live in a county where 67% of the voters are black. An AM radio station here has blasted Rice like you cannot believe. The hosts are black but I've heard them say some of the worst things about her.

Assume for a moment that she keeps most if not all of the voters that Bush got this 'time round.

Bush increased his share of the black vote from eight percent to twelve percent. Condoleezza Rice is a conservative black woman but she is a black woman who never lets audiences forget that she remembers where she came from.

She will approach 20% of the black vote, easily, by going around the NAACP and going into the Black Church, which she knows like the back of her hand. If she gets anywhere near that number, or even more, we are talking an electoral landslide-as several upper Midwestern states, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and possibly Washington state slide into our column.

Again, this stuff is REALLY early.

But it's worth thinking about. Don't dismiss her pull on black voters just because she is Republican.

Chris

Oh, of course. Black opinion leaders hate her. It's her job to go around them. You will see a sea-change in black opinion when she is nominated. Reality has a way of doing that to people.

Compare this to Madeline Albright who showed up to meetings dressed like she was attending a cocktail party and ball.

Just as I suspected it would happen the DUmmies are calling her a Nazi.

What's funny is Kirsten Powers was on Hannity & Colmes the other night bitterly defending Democrats regarding the swastika painted on the Hollywood Billboard. She claimed she has never seen Democrats use swastikas. Guess she thinks calling someone a Nazi is ok though.

Assume for a moment that she keeps most if not all of the voters that Bush got this 'time round.

She won't. Around 40% of Bush voters said in a recent poll they won't vote for a woman for President. Rice cannot win enough black Kerry voters to make up for the difference.

Also, I have questions for each of the Rice supporters who have attacked me here. Is she pro-life? What is her stand on gay marriage? Does she want to increase taxes? How about immigration, will she secure our border?

You don't know the answer to these questions because Condi has never answered them. And I suspect that many of her positions on the issues are not something you'd support.

Yet, here you are pushing a candidate for PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and you don't even know where she stands on the issues.

CNSNews.com) - The following sentence is part of a report on Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that appeared in (a) a supermarket tabloid; or (b) the Washington Post (Pick one): "Rice's coat and boots speak of sex and power -- such a volatile combination, and one that in political circles rarely leads to anything but scandal." Okay, here's more - from Washington Post staff writer Robin Givhan: "When looking at the image of Rice in Wiesbaden, the mind searches for ways to put it all into context. It turns to fiction, to caricature. To shadowy daydreams. Dominatrix! It is as though sex and power can only co-exist in a fantasy. When a woman combines them in the real world, stubborn stereotypes have her power devolving into a form that is purely sexual."

Actually, I do know where she stands on some of those issues, but not all of them. It serves her purposes to be opaque on these issues for now. She has a Department to run, and it is in no one's interest for her to go on Crossfire and beat Begala into a bloody pulp.

I seriously doubt if 40% of the Bush voters would stay home, vote for Hillary, write in Kelly the Klansman, or otherwise drink themselves into oblivion to allow the likes of Hillary to gain office. Those 40% you speak of would beg, borrow, or steal to vote for Rice against Hillary. I think you underestimate your fellow Republicans.

For myself, I would move heaven and earth to keep Hillary away from strategic nuclear weapons. In that context, I'll wait and see what Condi has to say about immigration, and other issues, although I'm sure she can't be too happy with Vicente Fox right aobut now. I'm not ready to hand the WOT over to an ingenue to satisfy the bullet-issue people.

You want to run George Allen or Bill Frist? Okay. They're nice guys. They're good conservatives with a capital "c". So's Condi, if you'd give her time. However, you won't, so I'll just keep on doin' what I'm doin', and you just keep on doin' what your doin'.

I know Rice can win an election against Clinton. That doesn't mean she will win, but that she can win. I don't know that Allen, Frist, Rudy, or Jeb!, for that matter, can beat Clinton's margin among women and minorities. I have serious doubts, given the Senator's abilities to use men as foils in the past and the fact that the entire propaganda apparatus of the MSM will be in her corner with a vengeance that will make their partisanship for Kerry look tame in comparison.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I think you underestimate your fellow Republicans.

I don't, really. They see through this "opaque to serve her purposes" Clintonian smokescreen. Who said, "I'm pro-choice"? Oh, and think about that Drudge Report headline: 'Condoleezza Rice's coat and boots speak of sex and power'...

Every Christian conservative in the country (the ones who vote in GOP primaries) has seen it by now. You know Drudge is pro-life, right? The "matrix" image isn't going to work, and 10-to-1 Rice loses if she goes for the nomination. Don't worry about it, because that's a good thing:

Hillary Leads Condi in 2008 Match-Up

Seven point lead... I would get to the polls to vote for Condi in a general election (thankfully, I won't have to). But my old boys in the red states wouldn't show for Condi. They don't take kindly to threats and would put up with another Clinton to prove it, 95% of the 40% will sit on their hands. But that hypothetical isn't going to happen.

I don't know that Allen, Frist, Rudy, or Jeb!, for that matter, can beat Clinton's margin among women and minorities.

Wrong. Now tell me who is underestimating Republicans?
