Bruce Springsteen To Iraq (Rock The Vote)
PABAAH: Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood ^

Posted on 01/05/2005 2:07:43 PM PST by Jon Alvarez

Bruce Springsteen has finally been drafted. After weeks of speculation as to whether or not the megastar would play a protest concert at Baghdad Stadium before the upcoming Iraqi election, the Boss will play as part of Vote for Change, a tour of Iraq featuring the likes of the Dixie Chicks, R.E.M., the Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, James Taylor, John Mellencamp and Bonnie Raitt.

Of course, wouldn't it be nice for these Hollywood types to put forth even a percentage of the time and effort they put into trying to defeat Bush into helping the people of Iraq? Of course, Iraqis are voting for change...from Saddam to free elections.

Wow! Talk about a target rich environment!

If the troops appreciate and want it, then I think that is fine.

IF I WERE A SOLDIER OVER THERE, I would tell these artists to SHOVE IT.

Earth to Bruce: in America, you're just ignored. In Iraq, criticisms are puntuated with RPG's.

Dixie Chicks, R.E.M., the Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, James Taylor, John Mellencamp and Bonnie Raitt.

Raitt, aside from perhaps R.E.M and Pearl Jam, is the only one worth listening to in this bunch. At least she can play a mean blues slide guitar.

I just don't really understand.

What ARE they going there for?

Are they protesting in Iraq -- if so, what?? Do they want Saddam to come back?

Or are they just trying to get people to vote? Which is a good thing... unless I'm missing something here.

I may not like their activism, but there is some damn good music represented in that list!

Of course, this is a parody and is not true. However, it sure would be nice to see this kind of effort, this kind of support, come out of Hollywood for the upcoming election in a free and democratic Iraq. All the time and effort put into defeating George Bush, but no support at all for free elections for the people of Iraq. The alternative: The return of Saddam Hussein to power.

Hmmmm, nevermind!!!! Rock on, Boss!

I'm pretty sure James Taylor is too old for an international flight.

making light of the upcoming elections by noting Hollywood's silence, esp. since they were so energized to get out the vote here...what about there? Hypocrites.
