*While reading reviews about the "Live Aid" DVD on Amazon, I read a comment from a teenager that wrote that it's an ideal gift for his/her parents. And knowing that Live Aid was from 1985.
*Because when I mentioned Hall & Oates to my cousin who is 20 he had NO clue as to who I was talking about. Becauase Bon Jovi, who just came out with "Runnaway" like YESTERDAY -- right? (not) is now over 20 yrs old and considered "Classic." Because "Do They Know it is Christmas" is now 20 yrs old..........................................

Actually I was born in 1964 and just turned 40 this year. I don't feel old at all, really. That is one of the reasons I posted this thread. I'm still very much the same as I was in my 20s. That is why it is just so surprising to realize that many things that only seem like several years ago are actually 20+ years ago. The thing that keeps popping into my mind is how I felt about the 60s when I was a young adult in the 80s. To realize that is how kids today see the 80s is just weird to me (and I'm sure to any generation).
Please no pictures Max Headroom. Or people saying that music hasn't progressed since Wang Chung. :^)
One of my friends is a grandfather and he's younger than I am. Granted he was a young father but it's odd that my wife is only about 6 years older than his daughter.
I'm in the process of teaching his youngest daughter to drive a stick shift because her dad can't cope with it.
Love the early Cure stuff the best , before they got HUGE and filled stadiums ( Three Imaginary Boys ; 17 Seconds ; Faith ) ...Saw them in NYC in a small club ( Hurrahs ) on their first tour ...many moons ago ...

Believe it or not, I can remember when milk came in glass bottles and was delivered by a milk man. I also remember my mom always buying oranges to squeeze for juice, since my dad was diabetic we ALWAYS had OJ in the house. Frozen concentrate must have saved her hours of work. And I am not that old! Only 46, my kid was born in 86. And that milk was delivered to a 12 story NYC apartment building.
I always envied my grandmother (1888 - 1985) for living through such changing times, but I might be giving her experiences a run for their money. Grandma seemed to hold up well, I'm feeling pretty exhausted.

I seem to remember that when they first started to talk about Generation X that those born in 1964 were included among the 'X'ers'. When did 1964 get moved into the 'Boomers'? I distinctly remember thinking that I was on the cusp of being a boomer, but just made it into the X'er category (quite frankly, I coudn't have cared less).

I remember the milk man. I thought that was the greatest job in the world for some reason.
so far, I believe being in your forties and fifties is the best - anybody else agree? would never want to be 20someting again....
1) I was at a yard sale last summer and heard some guy explaining to a ten-year-old kid what a record player did.
2) I was watching And Justice For All... (1979) a few weeks ago and realized that a twenty-year-old might not even realize that the scene with Dominic Chianese's character talking on his car phone was supposed to show that he was rich.
3) I was observing ballot counting at my county elections office and one of the workers was talking about her grandchild. I thought, "She can't be a grandmother; she's only about my age." Then it hit me....
In the 80's, I had the worst fashion sense.
Leg warmers. Ski pants. Power-shoulders. Urgh!

This post strikes home too. I remember Nick being strictly 50s/60s and some 70s shows not that long ago.
