Mr. Potter is Winning
All hail Pottersville!
Above are two different articles that use the Jimmy Stewart/Donna Reed Holiday classic Its a Wonderful Life as a basis for attacking Republicans. This is a widespread meme, I've seen it in other places but couldn't find them online.
Basically these articles suggest that mean old Mr. Potter was obviously a Republican because he worked to keep the people of Beford Falls poor and without the things they wanted. He was always out for himself and profits and paid no mind to the concerns of the little people.
Personally I think it's disgusting that anyone would even suggest this since this movie depicts why we Conservatives believe what we do. Small businesses like the Savings and Loan (not the Government) were able to help individuals achieve success through hard work (not handouts!). Honest, decent, traditional, hard-working people like George Bailey are still what makes America great whether these liberals get it or not.
What do you think about these articles?

I would agree that the Democrats are the ones that are suicidal, as was George Bailey.

Mr. Potter is a step up from what liberals usually call us. Usually liberals just go directly to Hitler, who ironically was a socialists.

I wouldn't consider a movie about an ANGEL stopping a man from killing himself a liberal one.

You should see the look on the faces of libs when I tell them what the Nazi party's full name was.

Truth be told, liberals are more like the bank investigators who were looking for a reason to shut down George Bailey's Savings and Loan. In an effort to 'protect' all those savers, they put people like George, who is doing more to help the consumer more than the government possibly could, out of business with all their rules and regulations.

Ive got no problem with potter...
He was simply angling for the business. George won out this time, but that's what competition is all about. No reason to villify him.

Whats regrettable is that there are fewer and fewer George Baileys speaking up for the little guy.
There's plenty of them on Free Republic.

I forget what it is. Please post it. I know it drives them nuts.

True but in business Pigs get fat, Hogs get slaughtered. Potter didn't seem to get that principle.

Thank you! I love the sound of it! It's like hearing, "Here, liberal scum! Hear the truth about yourself!"

Sure, potter got what was coming to him thats for certain.
He would have been better off with a partnership agreement that recognizes and leverages the positive achievements of Georges enterprise. George could do the home loans and potter could do the small business and other corporate work. They could both focus on their core competencies and achieve a successful symbiotic relationship.
Instead Potter established an unnecessarily adversarial relationship with his competition. That kind of hostile atmosphere created a negative image of his concern. It was unpalatable to do business with him thereafter.
However the relationship is far from unsalvagable.
Make friends not enemies I always say.

The Third Reich wasn't a true socialist state like the Soviet Union was but their govenment was very involved in running the German economy.

Yes, I know. True communism is govt control and ownership of everything (and everyone). Nazi Germany was a fascist state. Fascism allows for private ownership, but maintains a total and intrusive govt control over everything and everyone. Fascism, in it's modern context, became synonymous with antisemitism; but I don't believe that definition ever evolved until after the war.

Fear not, especially at this time of the year.
Leftists have proven that they totally suck at the art of analogy, allusion, and metaphor. The only thing that I've seen from them has been projection. They bitch piss & moan about all of their failings, only they claim that it is really us.
They are so into their feelings that they have lost the discipline to reason things out, and hence the ability to understand what they are feeling: "Oh, I feel bad. It must be a Republican's fault!"
I feel for them and their angst about the same that I do for the insects that visit my Zapper (OOH! Got another one!)
OK. Now that I'm done, I'll go and actually wade my way through their drivel ;'}

OK, I went & looked (you can find my comment to Luna on his page under the name "Scrooge")
The Salon piece wasn't even as "clever" as Carl's. It wasn't even a POS, more like dribblings......
(why don't more of these people commit suicide)
Merry Christmas!

There are and have been fascist states that didn't involve anti-semitism but they have gone together quite often as well.
The Third Reich was well known for it's anti-semitism well before the war. The holocaust didn't come along until during the war.
To: mainepatsfan
That's true, but many people aren't aware of that.
