The Catholics hold to replacement theology yes, and in general they believe the church (their meaning of "church" is the visible RCC) has authority over the Bible as doctrine, i.e. whatever historically the Catholic church believes determines what particular passage of the whole Bible is to be understood.
I know our stand is very much a minority here - there are perhaps fewer than 10 pre-trib Christians active on FR. I would be more comfortable to dicuss this on a Christian forum.
"How does he expect to have credibility glorifying an unrepentant terrorist who hates and kills Jews, the apple of God's eye?"
You: What is the theology of the Catholic Church and the Pope in this matter? Do they believe that Jewish people are still The Apple of God's Eye as the Bible states? - Or do they believe incorrectly that the Church replaces the Jewish people as the Apple of God's Eye (ie Replacement Theology)? How do they interpret the New Testament?
Me: I don't know the Catholic stance on this since I am not Catholic. I though my answer was clear. The Jews are still the apple of God's eye. The "church" hasn't replaced that fact. The church is the body of believers in Christ. Jews are welcome to become a part of that as well. If they don't the Old Testament, for Jews that take it seriously will have the same opportunity as other nonbelievers to become part of the "church". Daniel and other books are clear enough on prophecy.
