Bloggers are to Blame

Posted on 11/03/2004 3:58:23 PM PST by burwellstark

I can't believe what I just heard on CBS Evening news with Dan. They are blaiming bloggers for the inaccurate poll numbers and the artificial Kerry confidence yesterday.

Most of the media deserves a slap.

Drudge and NRO ran with those numbers. The MSM Knew of them and refused to hand Bush his states partly on the basis results conflicted. They are all to blame, just as those that believed them so readily are to blame.

The real question is whether tampering was done with the numbers, and who did it.

Drudge has a track record of snatching defeat from certain victory, going all the way back to the Lewinsky scandal. NRO were fools for not trusting those numbers emailed to them by a neurotic fussyfoot who probably got it while surfing moonbat lefty websites.

I have to say, though, it was great watching the meltdown when it turned out those numbers were crapola.

I thought Rove's use of the CIA mind control rays in Ohio was creative. Adding the mind altering chemicals to the water supply in Florida was also very effective.

On Fox, Barone said they decided that the poll numbers weren't agreeing with the real numbers they were getting so they chose to omit the poll numbers from their state projections. Said it made an immediate 5 to6 point swing for Bush. cbs apparenty chose to continue to use their bogus poll data.

It was fun to watch Dan squirm, desperately trying to gerrymander and cherrypick enough votes for Kerry out of obscure districts of CBS's Ohio prop map.

This reply is my favorite thus far. Have you read Christopher Buckley's "Little Gren Men"?

Maybe they actually helped us by motivating our base and making sure they got out to vote. Who knows how it played out. The point is, do you think anyone is gonna own up to the mistake? Not hardly. Even Ziggy is not admitting his mistake.

Michael Barone thinks the Rats got a hold of the locations of the exit pollers and sent it shills to "slam" the poll to suppress Rep turn out. I think he may be right. Otherwise, the pollers were biased and skewed the sample intentionally. Either way it was obvious the data was garbage. I did a quick sanity check and immediately knew the data was NFG. I am no genius. I am an engineer and a basic tenant of anyone who deals with data is to perform a "sanity check" of the results. If they are way outside expectations you stop and find out way. If you can't find a reason, you question the source of the data. Short of pictures of Bush with a boy or farm animal on the front page of the NYT, nothing explained the results they had.

They are blaiming bloggers for the inaccurate poll numbers and the artificial Kerry confidence yesterday...well of course - if bloggers hadn't leaked the numbers to the general public the press could have kept them to themselves so that they were the only ones to look pleased and giddy while reporting on the election; moreover the confusion they caused the decision desks so they would delay calling even the easiest Bush states would have appeared to come from real problems with the vote rather than with the poll numbers, maybe leading potential Bush voters to stay home - it was the 2004 edition of the 2000 calling Florida early to depress Bush's vote...

Personally I like Michael Barone's explanation tonight on Fox News - that some 'rat operative found out where the polls were going to be done and sent out about a hundred campaign staff to "vote" in those locations and then volunteer to answer the questionnaire - the MSM had better like that explanation too - it lets them off the hook......

This thread could help explain why. Note the close connection between the polling company and CBS/Viacom.

Barone actually had a strange take on it. He felt that mid-level Kerry operatives may have tried to "slam" the exit poll by going over to the mall and recruiting Kerry voters, then herding them toward the poll-takers. I haven't heard this Mitofsky's name yet, except here.
