KERRY PIGSKIN FAUX PAS RANKLES PACKER BACKERS
Spring Green, WI - In verbal miscue reminiscent of earlier gaffes when he touted the Ohio State Buckeyes at a Michigan rally and mistakenly referred to Green Bay's "Lambert Field," John Kerry lauded Iraqi militants before a crowd of Green Bay Packer supporters here Sunday.
"Hey, and how about those Fallujah Freedom Fighters?" Kerry enthused. "I know it's only September, but boy, they are really playing with the heart of a champion."
Sensing an uncomfortable buzz in the audience, Kerry quickly righted himself.
"Of course, they haven't had to play Breath Fever and the Greenville Red Packings, which are the local team here, and also the one I am cheering in favor of," Kerry added.
Campaign spokewoman Mary Beth Cahill blamed the mixup on a junior staffer who had mistakenly told Kerry he was speaking in Madison, a noted hotbed of Iraqi Insurgent fans.

"I say to you, who among us does not love the manly rough-and-tumble of the gridiron?" said Kerry, gesturing to the Packer game playing on the bar's big screen television. "Alas, if only we could be there, in person, amid the frozen penumbra of Rimbaud Field. Belgian ales for all!"
