I've had it with O'Reilly
BearCub | 09/14/2004 | BearCub

I'm done with O'Reilly. I just heard him defending Dan Rather saying something like "in this country you're innocent until proven guilty..."

While I agree with that, I've got a real problem with the fact that he doesn't seem to have the beliefs when talking about Kobe Bryant and Scott Peterson.

Kobe was accused by a slutty whore who is obviously seeking to profit from her situation. Peterson is probably guilty as hell, but if you can't prove it then you can't prove it.

Why the double standard, Bill?

I'm with you. He's been moronic on this story. He used to work at CBS, probably still good buds with Captain Dan.

O'reilly is like a fine French wine.
Now lets heed his advice and boycott him.

Well, if he really believes innocent until proven guilty, he should be irritated at Rather for using questionable documents to impugn the integrity of the President.

Or is the President not entitled to also be considered innocent until proven guilty.

"in this country you're innocent until proven guilty..."Now it's "your innocent until someone accuses you with baseless accusations."

O'Reilly's ratings go up in a close election, probably.

The only spin is how the world spins around him.

Yeah, Bill is still in melt down about the Swift Boats too. I've stopped watching his show because of his blanket condemnation of the Vets without even reading Unfit for Command or doing any investigation.

Ann Coulter has his number. I read an article by her recently about Bill's modus operandi that right on the money, cleared it right up for me. I wish I had the link, but you could probably google it. She says that his "...method is to immediately take a position exactly in the middle between the two sides, irrespective of the facts of the matter, negating any independant thought about the matter." Of course that kind of logic would have Bill condemning both the Nazis AND the Polish for their "aggressive behavior" back in 1939.

Bill's cheap seats on the fence do a disservice to his audience, but it works for him financially so he's not likely to stop. I used to admire him, but no more.

The Swift Boat Vets and the New Media are driving everyone in the old media crazy, we're removing their stanglehold on the truth in this country. We need to keep it up, and get our elected leaders to repeal this McCain/Feingold nonsense while we're at it. You know it has to be bad for us if the politicians AND the old media are for it. Anything that removes average voices from the political debate is a step towards Big Brother. Let them never remove the people from government of, by, and for the people.

Anyone care to dispute this (from another thread)?

but this is how it looks, relying on "FR echo syndrome":

OR wants an interview with Kerry, and to ingratiate
himself, has been prostituting himself to liberal guests,
and abusing everyone else, in order to please Kerry.

If Kerry won't even talk to the pool reporters on his
plane, and can't handle one obvious softball question
from a friendly NYT hack, a NoSpinZone appearance is
just not going to happen.

OR is losing viewers for nothing, and is not likely to
get them back.

The problem is that Dan has been proven guilty. You can't reproduce those memos with any 1972 era typewriter (I don't care if there were typewriters with some of those features -- for $18k). Let's see Dan do it, otherwise, he is guilty. You can, however, produce an exact copy in M$ Word quite easily.

What's most enjoyable to me is the fact that Dan is now completely screwed on this issue. Even if he continues to stonewall, and hope that something pushes him off the front page, the damage is done. This will dog Kerry all the way to the election.

The only way Dan can save himself and CBS is to give up the source of the forgeries, which of course is the DNC/Kerry/MoveOn cartel, which of course will ALSO bring Kerry down.

I love it, fraudcast media has now become the National Enquirer.

I think Rather is guilty - I've seen enough to convince me of that.

My problem is with O'Reilly - who insists on seeing more evidence against Rather but nonetheless has convicted others of crimes in his own personal 'star chamber' despite a complete lack of evidence.

I'm all about convicting the guily - but only if there is enough evidence to do so.

I'm so far right wing it would scare most Republicans - hell, it scares my parents sometimes.... But I spent the better part of my youth in private school being blamed for sh!t other people did. As an adult, I DEMAND that people be conclusively proven guilty before I accept that they are. Anything else is fascist, like the nuns at St. John's... -bc

I thought it was priceless when an RNC spokesperson criticized the new demokrat ad and said "The video the Democrats released today is as creative and accurate as the memos they gave CBS." It's great, because it creates real problems for Kerry whether or not his campaign is reponsible, since Rather won't release his source. People will assume that it is true (which of course it probably is).

I've been watching DU and some other sites. From what I can gather, the Kerry campaign is pissed as hell about the fake memos - they are blaming moveon. The gist of it is that Memogate, while well-intentioned, exceeded the expertise of those who concocted it & will work against Kerry. No sh!t...

Rather is guilty and it does bother me to hear people like O'Reilly try to make excuses. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter, since people aren't as stupid as the Legacy Media (O'Reilly now included) think they are. Anyone who has ever used MS Word can look at those documents and see that is what they were created with. I encourage all MSM types to put their credibility behind these memos, because all it will do is expedite the demise of the Legacy Media.

Well, my advise for Jenjis John, if he is pizzed about them, is to publicly declare them forgeries and demand that Rather out the bogus source. It seems his campaign is embracing them (since they showed part of the CBS "report" in one of their commercials), however.

I particularly enjoyed the line O'Really sputtered about bloggers not employing a system of checks and balances to ensure their material is accurate.

Oh. You mean like at CBS!?

Mr. O'Really, just to let you know, I never knew I was a BLOGGER until the past 2 weeks. What you might learn, from this experience, is, We Bloggers are informed people who are not going to take the word of the main stream press, which you so elegantly, included yourself to their status.

O is not welcome in my home. H&C, that is another story. I love Sean.
