According to Powerline Blog, this was reported on FOX News:
KELLY WRIGHT: Tony, here's the latest that we're finding out on this story. At least three Pentagon sources believe the documents about President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard are fakes. CBS as you mentioned is standing by its story...

....and ignoring what it did for our national spirit.... I am glad I missed it, I would have been enraged. It was the first event in years where Americans chanted "USA! USA! USA!" We did it with pride and joy. Looking back thru the years, it was the point when we knew the Reagan Revolution had begun.
From that moment on, the nation turned to the man who would lead this country out of the darkness. A man I will forever credit with restoring the broken spirit of this country. The man who said by example never, ever hide your love of country, for we are the greatest nation in the world. President Ronald Reagan.
Which explains why Cronkite will not acknowledge the signifigance of that sweet victory.

Assuming it is accepted they came to the DNC first, is anyone actively exploring how they got to the DNC? Or is the call just for CBS to reveal its sources?

She's on OUR sideI would like to think so, but go back to the Power Blogger thread and check out posting #77 from tioga.
Haven't heard anything else about her being a fan of algore, but this is pretty damning.

Perhaps you know something about him that I don't.Lol, I met Kelly Wright when he was in Hampton Roads. I used to work part time for a company that delivered folks luggage from the airport, you know, luggage that the airlines had "lost".
I delivered Kelly's luggage to him at the station. It was pouring down rain that day too. He glared at me like I was responsible, didn't say thanks, an certainly no tip.
I'd received tips from plenty of regular folks.
Another cheapskate were the folks that run Rock Church in Virginia Beach. I delivered their luggage to their house, (huge place in Chesapeake), same kind of response, a gruff, "It's about time", from Anne Gimenez. Perhaps it wasn't Kelly's best moment, but, that's my experience with him.

With the Selectric, "Bush's" should be 7+6+4+6+3+4=30 units long and "period" should be 6+5+4+3+6+6=30 units long. So they should be equal in length. Excellent work.
Thanks.

It's all relative, I reckon...seems she's tried to make an effort at being Fair&Balanced, which is better than what 85%-90% of the journalists do.

I would bet on the Swamprat, Carvile, to have generated the fake documents. He is, gag, a former Marine... and as a retired Marine I hold my nose when I say that...but that said he may have some little bit of knowledge of the Correspondence Manual and may have used that to try to fix up a military letter. Granted the Army or Air Force format my be a little different from the Naval Correspondence Manual but there are certain similarities. What I noticed was the off center header, no logo on the left side of the paper, and no correspondence code in the right hand upper corner. I saw a not so clear copy so maybe I missed something and someone is welcome to correct me if I am in error on that. Thing is, if one would keep a personal note to file, not an official memo to file, why would he type it? Up until the year 1990 we had clerks to type our admin..then the computers were starting to appear on desks of officers and we started typing our own correspondence as the MOS for admin clerks started to dwindle. Until then, I always had a clerk or secretary type my material.
I entered the Marine Corps in 1969. We used IBM Selectric type writers or any kind that would work but they were manual typewriters. In my S&C Files vault we had a sort of punch card machine to generate inventory of documents. All our work was stubby pencil or typewriter NOT PC type computers. Granted in the 1980s computers were starting to make the scene but the ones people my have had at home were not necessarily compatible with the ones on base...so the Rats and Car-vile, if he was behind this, seemed to overlook that little detail.

The Executive had two (2) backspace keys, a 2-unit and a 3-unit. The characters varied in width from 2 to 5 units. So, as you can see, there was always a backspace combination possible for any letter.

Yes, I know that it was possible to space back even one unit (and find your place with that little wire you popped up ) but to use the technique that worked on the Selectric you would have had to memorized the unit spacing of each letter, add all the weightings up and divide by two. Actually what I used to do was take a separate piece of paper, type out what was to be centered and then hold it over the new good page that had a small pencil mark in the center. Usually we didn't have to do that because we used the Executive only for letters and we already had letterhead at the top of the page. Billing and file copies were done on other typewriters - for reasons that were obvious to us but apparently not obvious to some journalists.
To: ladyjane
Yep. I would type it on scrap. Measure it. Divide by two, then backspace from the center by that number.
Now the young'uns know why we are such good typists. Every thing had to be typed twice!
