Will "Unfit for Duty" and a Strong GOP Convention force Kerry Out of the Race?
Remember_Salamis

Posted on 08/04/2004 8:24:37 PM PDT by Remember_Salamis

I'm afraid that Kerry could drop out in early Sep if "Unfit For Duty", the anti-Kerry Vietnam book, gets major exposure.

What if the GOP goes into the convention 10 - 15 points up, and then Bush gets a HUGE bump out of the convention?

Does anybody really think the Democrats will keep a candidate 20 - 25 points down with no chance to win?

What are the legalities regarding putting Shrillary on the Ticket?

What are Edwards' chances of winning after a Kerry drop-out???

The media will try to ignore this. We all need to buy this book and make it number one. Then the media will have a hard time ignoring it.

And while we are at it, we should all donate money to Swift Boat veterans for Truth to air their incredible commercial around the country. Go to www.swiftvets.com to see it, as well as to donate money.

The Dems should have gone with Sharpton - at least he has a personality!

Maybe it's not too late!

No, but its worth a thought I guess. Media will bury anything substantial.

I think this is the scenerio. Kerry can not stay in. I predict that his "health will fail" him. He has had some cancer, and all this campaigning can not be good for his health. So, he will have to drop out. Dems eat losers!

Edwards is a star, especially if he puts Hillary, or Obama on the ticket.

The Torricelli gambit?
The question is who wants to take on W. The economy is booming, the war in Iraq is going great, the war on terrorism is also going great.
I agreee it's possible, but unless something really bad happens that hurts the Bush admin, nobody would be dumb enough to take him on. Hillary included.

Everybody was saying stuff like this months ago. Kerry is still in and has been nominated. As for the vietnam book, it will be covered up by the liberal media. People who question Kerry aren't allowed on broadcast tv... it's a rule. I don't think kerry is gonna drop seeing as he's reached this point and is pretty close with bush in polls. This election will ultimately come down to how people feel about the economy, and whether or not Bush can convince people that Kerry would be too weak on defense/national security.

But the media doesn't have to discuss anything. Rush and Sean will do that. All the vets have to do is air that ad in battleground states. Contribute! They need the dough to run the ads.

The election is Kerry vs Bush. Any speculation to the contrary is just plain silly.

I know fringe democrats who insist that the Republicans are going to "wake up" to George W Bush any day now and dump him for McCain. They need to adjust their tinfoil hats.

grab the reins. he's not dropping out. are you listening to this guy? he thinks he's on a mission from God to . . , er, well, I don't think he really believes in God, so . . he's on a mission from Jacques Chirac to depose GWB.

and if he did, a mechanism doesn't exist to simply put the littler johnny at the top of the ticket.

It's not going to happen, They are now stuck with John Kerry.

Every State has it's own election laws so Hillary won't be able to pull a "New Jersey" in every state or even in most states, So even if the Rats tried this Hillary wouldn't end up on the ballot all 50 states. Most notable is California and New York which the rats need in order to win the election have Republican Governors who would block her. So you would split the ticket and have Hillary on the ballot in some states with Kerry still on the ballot in others

"The question is who wants to take on W. The economy is booming"
The Bush Ad-meisters have yet to make the case for the economy. What's up with that? And please nobody give me this "theyre waiting till october to play their hand" crap. If Bush was waiting till late to make his move, he wouldnt be spending so much campaign cash on these crappy ads.
The economy has been growing for the fastest rate in 20 years for a year now... the economy has been creating hundreds of thousands of jobs per month, yet not a single peep in the ads about these numbers.
The media has been bashing the economy for partisan reasons, and that is unfair. But we're going to have to work past that and realize that Bush still has an opportunity to make his case.

The dems have had their convention. They have their nominee. Period. I don't know their exact rules, but I believe that they would have to suspend whatever rules that they do have in order to hold another convention to nominate another candidate. That isn't going to happen. These things are planned years in advance, and even if they could hold another convention, there isn't enough time.

Furthermore, there is NO WAY Kerry is going to withdraw. He has WAY too much ego for that!

Kerry is running for President on the Democrat ticket, Edwards is his running mate, and that's it.

Kerry won't drop out. Dems are giving this ride to
Kerry-the-loser so that the way will be clear for Hillary in 2008. Either that or it's another DNC way of testing how stupid their constituency is. Actually, come to think of it, both reasons are right.

Go to www.swiftvets.com to see it, as well as to donate money. I saw the appeal for donations on an earlier thread tonight. They want to keep the ad going until election day. This is the first time I ever wanted to get my credit card out and donate. C'mon folks, pitch in. $25 is coke, coffee and donut money for a couple of weeks. BTW, why can't some of the 527 groups in our camp contibute to this? This will do more damage to the Kerry Campaign than all those cheesy ads the BC'04 is running.

"all those cheesy ads the BC'04 is running"

Especially the ones that don't even bother to show President Bush in them. What's up with these ad-wizards?
