If (hopefully when) Bush is re-elected, he has a few months to start some initiative to actually secure the borders before he'll be inundated with some serious pressure.

My vote is already with Peroutka. The Democrats and Republicans have drifted so far from the Constitution, they are not coming back. They will continue to drift further away.

For those who view my vote for Peroutka as a vote for Kerry, you are wrong. Go browbeat those that have little understanding of our Constitution.

To vote for either major candidate would be choosing to vote for the lesser of two evils. The lesser of two evils is still evil.

My vote is to be cast with moral and Constitutional convictions.

Yep... Clinton even revealed the Dems worry in an interview a few weeks ago, warning Kerry not to allow Bush to rally his conservative base.

They'll be working hard to prevent it, and divide us at every opportunity :-(

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

Until God Himself runs for office, every candidate is human, imperfect, and a lesser of evils. It's our responsibility to place our vote in a way to accomplish the greatest good... placing your vote with Peroutka is no better than hiding your talents under your bed, a poor investment.

"... placing your vote with Peroutka is no better than hiding your talents under your bed, a poor investment."

As you know, this statement is similar to opinions once held of the upstart Republican Party.  My vote for Peroutka is firm.

good for you, and i agree with you. they will never go back to conservatism unless the voters hold them accountable.. if they are this liberal and still win, they will have no reason to get back to the GOP roots. matter of fact, many of them have an arrogant attitude "they have no where else to go- who needs em?"

you are right that no one 'owns' our vote. what i find sad, (in a pathetic sort of way) is all the hateful rabid remarks about Peroutkas Christian Constitutional beliefs and principles.. That speaks volumes about what the 'good ole gop' has become. but as i said before.. the motto of today seems to be 'Party Before Principle®'

"good for you, and i agree with you."

Thank you!

"That speaks volumes about what the 'good ole gop' has become."

For over 30 years I was registered Republican.  Many of those years were with the RNC and the California Republican Assembly (once the most conservative arm of the GOP).  I've watched the party compromise principles to attract voters.

In recent months, I've watched as they passed a bill that makes it a federal offense to murder a pregnant woman.  Every state in the union already has laws against murder.  This law will not bring back either the mother or child.  The murderer can still only give his life once, be it with a death penalty, or a life sentence.  Defense attorneys, prosecutors, and all their assorted expert witnesses got a windfall with this federal measure.  I don't like the thought of a child dying within the mother, and "feel good" legislation that will pump millions to lawyers doesn't make the crime less repugnant.

I've watched as they proposed an amendment banning flag burning, but don't care that it is used for commercial purposes.

I've watched as the Supreme Court, with seven of nine justices being Republican, refused to hear the case of the Massachusetts court decision in favor of same sex marriage.

I've watched as Republicans ridicule Democrats on national security while both parties turn a blind eye to illegal immigrants.

I've watched as Republicans and Democrats protect their own when they should be purging their respective parties of elected officials that have done wrong.

I've watched as Republicans pump up the term limits spin, yet continue to endorse and finance their own members that exceed the party recommendations.

I've watched as the "Patriot Act" has found politically correct ground by effectively making all citizens "suspects" in a war where our enemy is Islamic extremists, and mostly Arab.

I've watched as our deficits have assured our children and grandchildren will be denied freedom from future big centralized government.

I've watched as government invitations are now necessary to participate in the "civil defense" of our nation.

I've watched as our government elected deficit spending to finance the War on Terrorism instead of turning to her own citizens with a war bond effort.

I've watched as the government excludes common citizens from the WOT to further enhance the portrayal of protector, from cradle to grave.

I've watched as President Bush banned federal financing of embryonic testing, but not campaign funds from private companies involved in such testing.

I've watched as Social Security expanded vastly under this Republican Congress and Administration.

I've watched so much.  I will certainly see more, but I am not powerless.  I can also do something.  I can vote for someone that has real values.  Peroutka has real values, and they are good values.  I will not vote for GW Bush out of fear of Kerry.  I don't respond well to threats or fear.  They make me want to stand my ground and fight.

I'm all for secure borders and do believe the administration to have done significantly more than prior administrations concerning border security.

I also understand that the Fed's may be enlisting support from these immigrant smugglers, the so called coyotes, to inform them of any "non-typical" cases. This is not in my opinion the best case scenario but it does have some merit.

A truly principled man speaks the truth without regard to what the polls say. To do anything else is self-serving and cowardly.

I would prefer that Bush was up 20 points in the polls so that he could afford to say this stuff.

He can hardly afford not to. The public is overwhelmingly in favor of strong border security. He could win over even more of them by making it a central issue.

Being in favor of strong border security does not make one anti-immigrant. You can still have a liberal immigration policy and a well guarded border at the same time. So there's no reason to be against it that would fly with the general public, and plenty of reason to believe that the general public would appreciate solid moves in favor of it.

Homeland Security Means Securing our Borders

Exactly what 70-80% of ALL Americans have said on every poll re: illegal invaders/borders.

Too bad neither party is worried about 'pandering' for those votes
