good for you, and i agree with you. they will never go back to conservatism unless the voters hold them accountable.. if they are this liberal and still win, they will have no reason to get back to the GOP roots. matter of fact, many of them have an arrogant attitude "they have no where else to go- who needs em?"

you are right that no one 'owns' our vote. what i find sad, (in a pathetic sort of way) is all the hateful rabid remarks about Peroutkas Christian Constitutional beliefs and principles.. That speaks volumes about what the 'good ole gop' has become. but as i said before.. the motto of today seems to be 'Party Before Principle®'

"good for you, and i agree with you."

Thank you!

"That speaks volumes about what the 'good ole gop' has become."

For over 30 years I was registered Republican.  Many of those years were with the RNC and the California Republican Assembly (once the most conservative arm of the GOP).  I've watched the party compromise principles to attract voters.

In recent months, I've watched as they passed a bill that makes it a federal offense to murder a pregnant woman.  Every state in the union already has laws against murder.  This law will not bring back either the mother or child.  The murderer can still only give his life once, be it with a death penalty, or a life sentence.  Defense attorneys, prosecutors, and all their assorted expert witnesses got a windfall with this federal measure.  I don't like the thought of a child dying within the mother, and "feel good" legislation that will pump millions to lawyers doesn't make the crime less repugnant.

I've watched as they proposed an amendment banning flag burning, but don't care that it is used for commercial purposes.

I've watched as the Supreme Court, with seven of nine justices being Republican, refused to hear the case of the Massachusetts court decision in favor of same sex marriage.

I've watched as Republicans ridicule Democrats on national security while both parties turn a blind eye to illegal immigrants.

I've watched as Republicans and Democrats protect their own when they should be purging their respective parties of elected officials that have done wrong.

I've watched as Republicans pump up the term limits spin, yet continue to endorse and finance their own members that exceed the party recommendations.

I've watched as the "Patriot Act" has found politically correct ground by effectively making all citizens "suspects" in a war where our enemy is Islamic extremists, and mostly Arab.

I've watched as our deficits have assured our children and grandchildren will be denied freedom from future big centralized government.

I've watched as government invitations are now necessary to participate in the "civil defense" of our nation.

I've watched as our government elected deficit spending to finance the War on Terrorism instead of turning to her own citizens with a war bond effort.

I've watched as the government excludes common citizens from the WOT to further enhance the portrayal of protector, from cradle to grave.

I've watched as President Bush banned federal financing of embryonic testing, but not campaign funds from private companies involved in such testing.

I've watched as Social Security expanded vastly under this Republican Congress and Administration.

I've watched so much.  I will certainly see more, but I am not powerless.  I can also do something.  I can vote for someone that has real values.  Peroutka has real values, and they are good values.  I will not vote for GW Bush out of fear of Kerry.  I don't respond well to threats or fear.  They make me want to stand my ground and fight.
