PASADENA, Md., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- "All the recent talk about the need for a so-called National Intelligence Director and other additions to the already bloated federal bureaucracy amounts to nothing more than just another reorganization of the government's organizational chart without the benefit of real change," said Michael A. Peroutka, Constitution Party presidential nominee. "One of the most important things the United States can do to prevent future terrorist attacks on our soil is to secure our borders. ADVERTISEMENT
"Sadly, not only has the Bush administration failed to do this, it has actually made the problem worse by floating a so-called amnesty program that would legalize 8 to 10 million illegal aliens," observed Peroutka. According to a recent article from The Washington Times ("Aliens program costs Bush," 8/3/04), the Border Patrol has recently said that Bush's proposal caused a surge in illegal border crossings from Mexico.
The article also points out that Bush's permissive attitude towards illegal immigrants has angered his party's conservative base. It also states that many disenfranchised conservatives fully support Rep. Tom Tancredo (R- Colo.), chairman of the House Immigration Caucus, an outspoken opponent to President Bush's proposal who has pointed out that thousands of these illegals come from countries known to harbor terrorists. "I applaud the strong, principled and constitutional stance that Congressman Tancredo has taken in this matter. He has repeatedly warned the administration of the need to secure our borders and to deport the millions of illegal immigrants currently in our country and he is absolutely right."
Peroutka concluded by offering the following thoughts on the topic, "Bush's plan rewards those who have broken the law. It does not make our homeland safer; it makes it easier for potential terrorists to sneak in. And despite claims to the contrary, this will not help our country's economy, but instead will increase unemployment and adversely effect the median pay scale.
"As president, truly securing our borders and deporting illegal aliens will be one of my top priorities."
Peroutka discusses the borders: Proving that even a broken clock is right twice a day.
You can't have "home security" if you leave the doors unlocked. Same goes for homeLAND security.
I don't know anything about this guy - except he's saying what Bush should be saying about immigration.
shhhhh.....if it doesn't come from the Republican Party it doesn't need to be said.
Glad he's saying it.
A vote for the Constitution Party is a vote for Kerry.
And if we're struck by border crossers prior to November, GWB can kiss reelection goodbye. I support him in almost everything else, but he's let us down in this regard.
I would prefer that Bush was up 20 points in the polls so that he could afford to say this stuff.
Admit it: Don't you with Bush was saying this stuff?----
Yes.
---A vote for the Constitution Party is a vote for Kerry.---
That statement only applies in states where the race will be close -- in my state of GA Bush will win handily.
My protest vote will go as my tagline sez.
---I would prefer that Bush was up 20 points in the polls so that he could afford to say this stuff.---
If Bush was saying 'this stuff', he'd be stronger in he polls, IMHO.
Exactly.
Another discussion here regarding the Peroutka/Chuck Baldwin campaign.

Yeah. He'd be an unstoppable juggernaut like Peroutka. Just remember - you can't spell "Peroutka" without P,E,R,O,and T.
Short version: "Same monkeys; different tree."
In the middle of a critical presidential election with a radical leftist inches away from the White House? No.
And this article is just another case of the liberal press pushing on a wedge issue and telling conservatives to jump... only the gullible on the right eagerly ask how high.
I believe that they have a concerted campaign going on too because they are hitting the christian forums hard and heavy with their rhetoric. They are persistent too. We need to stay on top of this because if we are not careful they will manage to pull off enough critical votes and we are looking at President Kerry.
If (hoppefully when) Bush is re-elected, but then doesn't secure the borders on his own initiative, he's going to be hearing about on a regular basis.
