where do we as a nation, stand on social issues.

where do we as a nation, stand on social issues.

I would state my own views and expect others to be honest and forthcoming about theirs as well.

i am a big supporter of the christian right, first of all, because i feel christianity can unite our nation by bringing the whites, the black and hispanics together with common values and interests.

Secondly, i feel that christians are a persecuted minority. If voltaire, nietzche or kennedy can be quoted in public places, why can't jesus or god have the same rights as them.

I am also against absolute libertarianism, because i feel that would breed anarchy in our country.

However i feel that we do have to realize that our country is based on freedom and the right of the individual to make his own choices.

Today, the liberal dogma is intruding into our individual freedoms.

They have coined so many laws, that they have turned the legal system into maze for the lawyer and a snare for the individual.

We need to contain this liberal invasion of our individual freedoms and the right to choose.

our support for christianity should be to give it the same rightful place as that of any other dogma.

we would also like christian organizations to be treated the same any other NGO or liberal charity.

However,we should realize that as a free nation, we don't want christian principles to intrude into our personal lives to an extent that they would choke the individual the same way the liberal dogma is choking the individual today.

America is a nation, where the individual reigns supreme.

This is something we never ought to lose sight of, no matter what.

This individual freedom has turned us into the greatest nation in the world, by freeing the individual of things that would hold him back in other societies and by doing so unleashing his creative potential.

We don't want to degenerate into caligula's rome

But we don't want to turn into the taliban, medieval europe, stalinist russia or nazi germany.

I would consider the 50's to be the most enlightened and progressive period of our recent history.

If we have to go back in time, we should take a journey to the 50's. We need to stop short of venturing into the chaos of early 20th century europe or the darkness of the medieval times.

In america, an individual always reigns supreme over the state and this great virtue has endowed its greatness upon our state as well, moulding it out of a solid core of individualism that unlike other states, doesn't need crutches to stand on.

33 vanity threads in 24 days. Is this a record? What is TLB's record?

well, i suppose this would explain the two different types of posters on this board.

Those who actually want to contribute something to the board

and others who come here to ridicule, chit chat and play around with a spin on the day's news.

First of all, the 'bloggers and personal' sub-forum is meant specifically for vanity postings.

You wouldnt find anything but vanity on this sub-forum.

All the news items are displayed on the news forum.

So unless you're looking for vanity threads, the ' bloggers and personal' would be the wrong section for you.

The limit on postings is again set for a reason.

The limit on the bloggers forum is meant to prevent FLOODING, an that would push other important threads into the background.

The purpose isn't to limit contribution, but to prevent the pushing of other threads into the background.

An average of around one thread a day, wouldnt crowd the board to an extent to push other important threads into the back ground.

It would do so only, if no other posters were contributing on this forum and the space wasn't being used any way.

if you are personally averse to vanity threads, i suggest you go spend some time on the main forum.

If you don't agree with a poster, debate his ideas.

if you are simply averse to a poster. Just don't read his threads

Finally, if you are trying to impose thought censors or political correctness on this forum, i'd say you're in the wrong plac,e since most of the posters on this forum are conservatives, who are sick of liberal thought censors and political correctness police.

if you consider yourself to be an american, you should be aware of the emphasis we place on individual freedoms and liberties. This country is all about them.

These values are cherished as conservative ideals and nurtured at conservative forums.

If we look at reagan's philosophy, he held the individual supreme.

But then blended in the right amount of religion, government and social structures to prevent anarchy.

individual liberty seems to be central point of the philosophy of our founding fathers as well.

Govt control, taxes and laws were considered a necessary evil to bring some order and structure this freedom.

They were all incorporated to protect, not to destroy these freedoms

AS far as religion is concerned, i feel it was sent by god to guide man through a successful and happy life.

But then individuals within a society, grow in terms of their levels of maturity and responsibility.

The society also goes through periods of peace and those of turmoils.

God's word in my opinion was sent to help even the most immature and irresponsible members of our society and to prevent the breakdown of our social structures to an extent that they would give way to chaos and anarchy.

I also feel that god's words was sent to man with an understanding of his strengths and weaknesses and a certain degree of ability to make the right choices for himself.

if god didn't want us to choose and make our own choices, he would have crafted us as automatons, not as humans.

These days, not many follow god's laws or commandments. i feel that God obviously envisioned this and accounted for this by giving us a gem for a mind.

Most of us pay little attention to God, till we lose our way.

However lost souls and those in trouble always find their way to him, and his teaching guide them out of their mess.

it still is a system that very much works in the real world. It lets us make choices and helps us out, when our state of mind can't make those choices for us.

I am not going to say anything.

Just quote what you yourself posted as the words of the moderator.

Just read the passage below and try to comprehend.

'For all of you who have blogs or personal web sites or personal news or opinion or forum sites that you would like to discuss or promote on Free Republic, here's the place to do it. '

Now if you have understood what was said above, you'd realize that emphasis is on the words 'personal opinion' and ' Personal news'

that is exactly what a vanity thread is, your personal opinion expressed in a thread on this forum.

now you can post it under a thread over here or you can post it on your website and quote a link to it.

whatever you do the fact of the matter remains, that it is your personal opinion

You know, you're right.

I pinged the mods here so they can see my apology.

So I apologize for my remarks and after reading your threads, I really hope you will keep it up, and increase the number of threads you start like this to no less than 10 a day, since right now it is a little less than 1 per day.

Your views and opinions on these matters is vital, and there is no need to continue talking on a same subject on existing threads; I think you ought to start a new one each time. Really. They're great. 10 a day. Please. I look forward to it, as does all of FR.

Thanks, and I hope you accept my humble apologies.

I don't see the need for you to apologize to me.

I feel very strongly about the first amendment, an open society, and vigorous debate.

If you owe an apology it would be to the moderators.

I suppose i owe them an apology as well for obsessing over this.

However i do seriously hope for you to be more positive in your pursuits, to debate ideas and opinions, to contribute to the forum, and to quit channelizing your energies into a worthless debate, like the one we just had over this thread.

Had you been concerned about important threads being pushed into the background because of my postings, it would have given atleast some validity to your objections.

But since, you seem to have been obsessing over me, just because of a personal dislike without elaborating as to how my postings affected the board, they showed a lack of concernand respect on your behalf for the forum, it's members and the moderators, whose time you wasted by indulging them in an imaginary crisis to serve nothing more than your ego.
