Two Universes - “Tyranny,” and “Freedom.”

“Why did the Founders not treat freemen, slaves, women, Indians and non-Christians as equal to Christians?”

I hope the following [fantasized] answer is reasonable enough to answer the question, or at least suggest one.

==============================

Some believe parallel and overlapping universes exist in the same space. Sometimes they are separate while in other times they mingle, overlap or bump. We live in our three-dimensional universe, while others creatures live in universes with more or less than three dimensions. Because all we know are our three dimensions, imagining what a six dimensional universe looks like, is impossible. We will know when we can step out of our universe and into the other.

Now consider we live in two parallel societies or “social universes.” Sometimes they are separate while in other times they mingle, overlap or bump. I call one “Freedom” and the other “Tyranny.” Without stepping out of our respective universes and into the other, those living in “Tyranny” cannot know what life in “Freedom” would be like. After centuries of Islam, Arabs and Moslems were oppressed in societies created by Ayatollahs, Mullahs, Tribal Leaders, Sheiks, Warlords and Dictatorships. The populations living under the constant yoke of tyranny, would have to step outside their Terrorist universe to learn what the Freedom universe is like. *

* President Bush has it right. The “Terrorist War” is more about winning the hearts and minds of the Moslems, than killing Terrorists. Terrorism is a weapon, while the enemy is “Ignorance.” A perpetual ignorance protected by a culture fanatically committed to preserve and impose their seventh century understanding of truth and justice on a world immerced in "Freedom."

In leaving Europe, the Founding Generation left one universe and entered another. I believe the Founding Generation did not treat freemen, slaves, women Indians, and non-Christians as equals because they did not fully appreciate the breadth and depth of the newly found dimensions of freedom, truth and justice, and because there still were many Americans still bound to the old universe of arbitrary law, “Divine Right” and inherited privileges.

==============================

“If you could ask a fish 'What is water?', it would tell you, 'I don't know. I've never seen it, I don't know what you are talking about'.”

“To know what freedom is we need to be outside of tyranny. We need a certain detachment, a certain distance, if we are to know and understand anything.”
