VANITY: The "Truth" about JimRob and Free Republic according to BADJOE

Dear Free Republic Friends,

My old friend and brother-in-arms BADJOE has promised to warm the cockles of our hearts by publishing an expose (the truth about JimRob and Free Republic according to Joe) on the 18th of this month, which represents the one year anniversary of the date he last posted to FreeRepublic.com and started up with LibertyPost.org.

So, as I believe that only the truth can set you free, and based upon the stratergery of pre-emptive strike, I have a confession to make (before BADJOE makes it public):

I have poisoned the well.

By my sly innuendos behind the scenes.

By my intellectual ineptitude.

By not trusting those that brung me to the dance to bring me home.

By my biting every hand that fed me.

By my arrogance that causes me to think I did it all by myself.

By my stubborness not because of principle, but because of my lack of ability to see what is transpiring.

Evidenced by:

One would think that with half again as many Freepers. with a recovering economy, It would take a great deal less time to raise the necessary funds.

By this time in the June 2002 effort with a goal of $70,000 we had raised $73,000. Not because of who did the fundraising, but because the sense of purpose, of family, of comaraderie, was still present.

BADJOE rang the warning bell, but none heard.

Conclusion:

It is a sad day.

For what was once a great hope, a means of bringing together those who are willing to pay dearly in blood, sweat, and money to save this country, we all love, has been reduced to an asterisk.

So sayeth BADJOE as he promises to publish all this and much more on the 18th. He's been feverishly working on this "project" for one full year. In addition to the "truth about JimRob" BADJOE intends to further betray our trust placed in him by revealing the names of our moderators. And who knows what else?

I can hardly wait.

Never, ever aim an attack at another poster. Attack the idea, the poster is impugned by association. Or attack the tactics, again, same principle.

There's no reason men and women of good will cannot disagree amicably.

Since it is extremely doubtful that Christians are more abusive than atheists, then why is it only Christians getting banned on the evolution threads?

Also, you keep talking about abuse reports, how come I got suspended and warned for filing abuse reports on evolutionists? How come post# 2337 is still up? Is that not abusive?

Also, how come I got threatened by one of your moderators on post# 2524?

Well...I was served a warning, and asked what the attack was. No answer. I reviewed my posts on the thread in question, and I POSTED NO ATTACK.

In my case you warned me based on the word on a (trusted?) button pusher without evidence? What is that? Certainly not justice.

Each abuse report and its corresponding post stands on its own. If you think we're gonna hash through hundreds of posts to see "who started it" you're nuts. If you do not want to take the chance of having an abuse report attached to your post (and your account log), or to have your post pulled, or to receive a warning or a suspension or possibly even a ban, then DON"T POST THE ATTACK!! Period. What could be simpler than that? Has absolutely nothing to do with an atheist, or your opponent, or anyone else. It has to do with YOU. Only YOU can prevent yourself from being banned!!!

I'm glad the particular post in question is analyzed, no I wouldn't expect the whole thread to be read. I've been seeing people threatening to press abuse when no attack took place and so was hoping that it doesn't go on the record without being looked at. It would be easy to get someone in trouble if it wasn't looked at.

Don't post the attack!! Why is this so hard to understand?

When you said abuse reports, I didn't know if that meant someone just had to press abuse to get a hit on someone's account.

You are right: Within the safe havens (church, home, prayer threads, noncontroversial subjects) there is very little belittling going on. --I was referring to beliefs, not prayers--. However, to quote one of my moral compasses, Dr. Laura, only 5% of the population is willing to walk into the areas of controversy to fight for what is right.

I'll never forget the period of time in NYC when people allowed others to be mugged because they feared for their own skins if they reported a crime.

I posted two posts to AG that did not contain personal attacks. Next afternoon, I'm called on the carpet for harassment. Now, she never told me not to post to her. She was ignoring me, but I disagreed with a point she made. So, I went after the point, not the person. Is some people's word enough that an attack was made (even if no post is given where an attack can be found?)

That's what I've been seeing on a lot of threads. People getting angry when their points are disagreed with.

The fact you are ignoring is it's CERTAIN PEOPLE who are being banned, and they are being banned for the contents of their VERY OWN posts. Has nothing to do with their religion. Each poster is responsible for his own posts. No one else can touch them. No one can save YOU except yourself.

Is it Ok by you to impugn by association by going after someone's point if you disagree with a point? I'm not sure I see what you're saying.
