VANITY: The "Truth" about JimRob and Free Republic according to BADJOE
LibertyPost.org | 10/10/03 | BADJOE (Slightly revised by JimRob)

Edited on 10/10/2003 2:27:00 PM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

Dear Free Republic Friends,

My old friend and brother-in-arms BADJOE has promised to warm the cockles of our hearts by publishing an expose (the truth about JimRob and Free Republic according to Joe) on the 18th of this month, which represents the one year anniversary of the date he last posted to FreeRepublic.com and started up with LibertyPost.org.

So, as I believe that only the truth can set you free, and based upon the stratergery of pre-emptive strike, I have a confession to make (before BADJOE makes it public):

I have poisoned the well.

By my sly innuendos behind the scenes.

By my intellectual ineptitude.

By not trusting those that brung me to the dance to bring me home.

By my biting every hand that fed me.

By my arrogance that causes me to think I did it all by myself.

By my stubborness not because of principle, but because of my lack of ability to see what is transpiring.

Evidenced by:

One would think that with half again as many Freepers. with a recovering economy, It would take a great deal less time to raise the necessary funds.

By this time in the June 2002 effort with a goal of $70,000 we had raised $73,000. Not because of who did the fundraising, but because the sense of purpose, of family, of comaraderie, was still present.

BADJOE rang the warning bell, but none heard.

Conclusion:

It is a sad day.

For what was once a great hope, a means of bringing together those who are willing to pay dearly in blood, sweat, and money to save this country, we all love, has been reduced to an asterisk.

So sayeth BADJOE as he promises to publish all this and much more on the 18th. He's been feverishly working on this "project" for one full year. In addition to the "truth about JimRob" BADJOE intends to further betray our trust placed in him by revealing the names of our moderators. And who knows what else?

I can hardly wait.

Is it the 18th yet? Tick, tock.

LOLOL! Actually, I don't recall his list including such things as sleep, personal hygiene, etc. The lists would normally include God, family, country, church, individual people, wealth, grooming, etc. But the order was always bracing and truthful.

Also you have ignored my request about yourself helping out in this matter by warning evolutionists that anyone who calls a Christian a 'liar for God' will be suspended.

Would you likewise advocate instant suspension for someone who accused another poster of being one of Satan's helpers?

Oh, wait, that was you, wasn't it?

"He was doing the devil's work so that is why you approve of his actions."
- Gore3000 to PatrickHenry, post #304 in the thread New Dinosaur Species Found in India
The irony is that in the post *immediately* before this one in that thread, post #303, you accused others of "hypocrisy" for (you say) not living up to the "agreement to treat everyone with respect and stop the insults".

Post the whole thing Ichneumon, if you're going to post it:
To: PatrickHenry Brings back memories of the thread about the professor who hurt the feelings of a creationist student by not giving him a letter of recommendation.

It was not about hurt feelings, it was about an atheist insisting that someone give up their religious beliefs for the sake of a recommendation. He was doing the devil's work so that is why you approve of his actions.

Sound's like the "devils work" for me and if you approved of it the gore is right.

As much as I think Rudy made a good mayor, I would prefer him as far as possible away from where he could influence the abortion debate.

Well, of course you would. You're Religious Right, you don't believe in the 11th Amendment.

Better to be governed by Democrats than Rudy Giulani, apparently, is ya'll's motto.

As a self-proclaimed Catholic, I would hope you would agree with my statement. It certainly wasn't something that should have opened my religious beliefs to ridicule - 11th commandment??? no, it is more like the 6th- but since you don't feel you can read the Bible for yourself, I'll excuse that little slip.

6th commandment of course being something that I do believe- and that transcends my Republicanism.

You know the great thing about being Catholic? You only have to understand what Christ said, which is so easy to understand that a child can do it.

Catholics don't need to understand premillenarianism vs. postmillenarianism, dispensationalism vs. antidispensationalism, redemptionism vs. postredemptionism, disestablishmentarianism vs. antidisestablishmentarianism.

We also don't have to endure the constant back-biting and power struggles between Billy Bob and his Church of the 17 Brethren fighting against Lester and his Auto Body Shop and Church of the Redeemed.

Try it, you might like it, and you'll definitely be on the path to salvation.

You might try that offer on the denomination that has a practicing homosexual bishop. And to understand what Christ said you have to read it. Now as to children understanding what Jesus said, it is true in some cases, but in many cases it is not.

Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Mat 13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

Ah, f.Christian...my old friend and now a Brother. How are you this fine evening???

I've seen some pretty stong vines choking some pretty strong trees here in the tropical forest - jungle ... frightening !

I was 23 yrs old ... a Catholic and for the 1st time ---

I could see what it all meant !

I became a Protestant - Christian ...

I started ... spontaneously --- preaching the Gospel ---

the 4 spiritual laws - plan of salvation ...

instantly it all made sense to me and ---

no one prior to that ever told or coached me !

Perhaps those "strong trees" were not needed here. Trust in the Lord to know what is right and good and profitable in this venue.

Anyway, it was tried already, by guess who? ALS, who was banned as a result of it.

...because ALS had hatched it as a scheme to "sucker" the evolutionists into hamstringing themselves on the debate threads. How do we know this? Because ALS sent an email to someone crowing about his "victory" and about how the evolutionists were falling for his trap. Not that it wasn't pretty obvious anyway from his draft proposal, but it was pretty nice of him to incriminate himself that way.

That alone would have been no cause for disciplinary action IMHO, but when the idea of a more workable agreement caught fire and people worked together to hammer out a good one, ALS flipped and started spewing thwarted outrage in all directions -- including at Alamo-Girl, who was *everyone's* nominee for an even-handed referee, and she performed the task with the patience and wisdom of Solomon. For this she was attacked as a "sell-out" by the creationists (ALS leading the charge) because she dared treat everyone with equal respect, instead of helping the creationists wage no-holds-barred war on the evolutionists.

*That* was when he broke the camel's back.

Frankly, I'm surprised he had remained unbanned *that* long. He had been suspended at least once before that, perhaps more. ALS had racked up a track record as the most intentionally disruptive poster on the debate threads, flooding them with posts consisting of one-line insults or belittling pictures, to the point where on some pages ALS posts were nearly every other post, swamping the actual conversation with insults and disruptions.

Typical example out of hundreds (if not thousands):

[Virginian-American wrote in post #1867:] Actually, IIRC, Pythagoras came up with that argument. It was a bit of a surprise to me when I read Archimedes' On floating bodies, the first hypothesis is "the surface of a body of water at rest is part of the surface of a sphere centered at the center of the earth".

[PatrickHenry responded in post #1870:] Coulda been Pythagoras. I really don't know. But the Greeks had the shape of the earth figured out, and its size. As for Archimedes, it always amazes me how sharp he was.

[ALS's followup in post #1883:]

To: PatrickHenry

a few other things that amaze you...

Oh yeah, great way to elevate a science discussion...

You can keep complaining about how "unfair" ALS's banning was, if you want, but personally I don't think FreeRepublic needs a conservative version of Michael Moore, who baits people, drowns them out, misrepresents what they say, and generally is constantly trying to stir things up in a troll-like manner. His banning wasn't just justified, it was *long* overdue, and the fact that he was here as long as he was is a testament to the amazing restraint of the moderators.

It was the evolutionists that insisted that an agreement to be civil include the 'right' to insult people!

No such claim of any such "right" exists within The Agreement.

What *did* transpire was that a proposal for a blanket "no insults" clause failed to pass because most folks agreed that if included the Agreement would die a death of a thousand cuts as people began to hairsplit over whether each post might be construed as "insulting" or not to any particular person (how about, for example, "that's ridiculous"?). Some folks feel insulted if you prove them wrong. And so on. As a first pass, it would be hard enough resolving disputes on more clearly defined issues, without bogging things down by making "insults" the main bone of contention. Nonetheless, the Agreement as finalized outlawed certain types of attacks everyone agreed could be clearly recognized, such as "belittling" language directed towards another poster.

They held up everything for a week.

*All* the drafting discussions took a total of several days to hammer out.

And again I say, trust in the Lord. He has everything well in hand. He knows each and every one of us intimately, and understands what will speak to our hearts, and what won't.

What worked in my case? Did hitting me over the head with the Bible work? No. Did screaming that I was facing eternal damnation work? No. Did the incessant attacks on my colleagues work? No.

What did?

Patience and love, forgiveness and acceptance...that's what worked.

Good News For The Day

‘But I say to all of you: In the future, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the mighty One.’ (Matthew 26:64)

"If the universe is moral, (and the fact that such a person as Christ existed, is strong evidence that it is), then what Jesus said about himself and the future, must come true. If morality has an infinite source, and backing, then the moral excellence of Christ will ultimately... triumph---over evil."

"I know some very agreeable people. I know some that I would call gentle giants. But their easygoing spirit is never a threat to greed and corruption. Kindness, patience, understanding, and love are not better than envy and bitterness, if they only ever exist as counterweights to their opposites. A good man who is content to coexist forever with badness, and wrong, cannot be a good man in any absolute sense."

"The goodness of Jesus is surpassing because he not only sorrowed over sin, and was outraged by it, he set himself against it, and warned his enemies that by suffering for it, he would rise above it, and eliminate it."

"If our universe is a moral one, then Jesus' values can never be viewed in any offhand way. Rather, he must be seen as a hazard to every act, motive, system, institution, or law, that is not in sympathy with him. A question that governments and their constituents ought to ask is: Are we making laws; invoking policies that clash with Christ and the direction of his Spirit? If so we are building badly. The universe itself will not back us."

"The future belongs to Christ-and to all who follow him."

Yes, in fact...sometimes He does. Recall Stephen? Which of the Apostles died a natural death? God uses all for good...to the great consternation of Satan.
