[history]
Dear Free Republic Friends,
My old friend and brother-in-arms BADJOE has promised to warm the cockles of our hearts by publishing an expose (the truth about JimRob and Free Republic according to Joe) on the 18th of this month, which represents the one year anniversary of the date he last posted to FreeRepublic.com and started up with LibertyPost.org.
So, as I believe that only the truth can set you free, and based upon the stratergery of pre-emptive strike, I have a confession to make (before BADJOE makes it public):
I have poisoned the well.
By my sly innuendos behind the scenes.
By my intellectual ineptitude.
By not trusting those that brung me to the dance to bring me home.
By my biting every hand that fed me.
By my arrogance that causes me to think I did it all by myself.
By my stubborness not because of principle, but because of my lack of ability to see what is transpiring.
Evidenced by:
One would think that with half again as many Freepers. with a recovering economy, It would take a great deal less time to raise the necessary funds.
By this time in the June 2002 effort with a goal of $70,000 we had raised $73,000. Not because of who did the fundraising, but because the sense of purpose, of family, of comaraderie, was still present.
BADJOE rang the warning bell, but none heard.
Conclusion:
It is a sad day.
For what was once a great hope, a means of bringing together those who are willing to pay dearly in blood, sweat, and money to save this country, we all love, has been reduced to an asterisk.
So sayeth BADJOE as he promises to publish all this and much more on the 18th. He's been feverishly working on this "project" for one full year. In addition to the "truth about JimRob" BADJOE intends to further betray our trust placed in him by revealing the names of our moderators. And who knows what else?
I can hardly wait.
Is it the 18th yet? Tick, tock.

Sadly I just took a quick gander over there.
There is one person pontificating about how he has solid evidence this place is run by the RNC.
Reality surely IS an option over there isn't it?

...But we have to ask ourselves, just what have we learned from that 8-year experiment on the collective nervous system of conservatives? We survived more than we ever thought possible. We learned more about the dark side than we thought actually existed. AND I learned how to make a glorious martini. All in all, we thrived. And just look at the other side. They are striving in vain just to survive. I raise my glass to karma!

A perfect example of what I mean when I said it is not easy to just let go things where you think you were wronged, or that a wrong was committed.
f.Christian, give what I suggest a try. It may not work. I am sure it will not feel satisfying at first.
But it sure would be good for all involved, and for the forum, if y'all gave it a good try. And if y'all did give it a good try, it would work.
Think it over.

Noble sentiments. I wish that was enough"Fairy tales, can come true, it can happen to you, if you're young at heart"
Jimminy Crickets, that may be the most corny thing I have ever posted. But then, I tend to think in song. Another one that pops into my head is
"And here's another clue for you all, the walrus was Paul, look into a glass onion"
I look into my glass onion, and I see that if many of those in the flame wars that overwhelm the real discussion would stand down as I suggested, then those causing problems would stand out like a sore thumb.
And those who stick out like a sore thumb tend to get noticed, albeit perhaps not as they would wish.

I learned that there is hell on earth. And I'm going to fight anybody and everybody who wants to let those people back in control of this country.
Searching around today, I found this:

Just because Bill Clinton has "former president" attached to his name and is no longer supported by a protective staff doesn't mean he has a "kick me" sign taped to his back. Just ask Paul Begala, keeper of the Clinton flame. "The right-wing media still has an obsessive hatred of the president, which in turn motivates us to defend him," the political adviser tells me. It's an expansive network connected by E-mail. There's a "Clintonstaff.com" page associated with Clinton's library and an alumni Yahoo! group. "We Clinton veterans do keep in touch. We love our former boss," says Begala. Consider: Reporting on a recent speech, the Washington Times highlighted Clinton's comments that the United States practiced terrorism in slavery and treatment of the Indians. Begala claims the paper missed the pointMuslims need to talk out their problems with Americans, not kill usjust to gig his man. "It will never stop," he says of conservative criticism, a point he spread on the Clinton grapevine: "Defend our hero against this scurrilous attack."

Lutefisk or Haggis? I think you have been ducking the main issue entirely.

I know that I helped clear up some situations ... Yes. And was that you or one of the other mods who finally cleared up that EsotericLucidity business? That rebounded to my embarrassment. I pretty much swore I'd never go out on a limb over anyone else's banning again no matter what I thought I saw. OK, I squawked a little about JediGirl.
Why don't you do each other a favor, do us moderators a favor, do the forum a favor, and do yourselves a favor. Forget the past with regards to your threads. Let it go. Start fresh.
Actually, the Agreement of the Willing was supposedly going to do that. However, we need to keep trying, so I guess it's time to dust that thing off. Most of the people trying frantically to torpedo it are gone now, anyway.
To: VadeRetro
Yes, and the one with the guy whose name had typing monkeys or something like that in it. I forget, and really am not inspired enough to go searching. :-)

But it sure would be good for all involved, and for the forum, if y'all gave it a good try. And if y'all did give it a good try, it would work. I would tend to agree although I have been far from perfect in this regard.
And it has been tried in the past and has failed miserably. But like fools, I guess we'll all keep trying. BWAHAHAHA, that sounds like the line about women from "Big Trouble in Little China". ;^)

I wish I were smart enough to hack that web site. I bet I could find out LOTS of stuff!
As an aside, do you think Bush will have something like that? Nope. He will set up his library and go home to cutting brush and watching ball games. And his advisers will get JOBS in the real world.
