I just accept that not everyone shares my world view and understand we all be happier if we didn't seek government to enforce our opinions. Excellent, that is exactly how I feel. Now if only more people felt this way too... maybe we should make it law!! It's certainly not just the religious right that tries to legislate their opinions. This is also how abortion even came to be "Constitutionally protected" in the first place, and now the liberals want to outlaw SUVs. There is little difference between the 2 extremes.

I have two questions for you:
1> You support Schwarzenegger, but you do you know his last name? You seem to exclusively refer to him as Arnold, but he actually has a last name.
2.How come in your post, you go to great lengths to avoid mention of Tom McClintock? Very suspicous. And McClintock is not a social conservative, he is a fiscal conservative and a social Libertarian.
To: DrMartinVonNostrand
In conclusion, I think you are probably one of those rightwing reactionary types who would be best served by moving to Vermont where the far-right and far-left look identical.Sorry, I am staying right here in California. I didn't personally attack you, but you had to personally attack me, since your ideas didn't hold up. Would you call President Bush a ``rightwing reactionary types ?'' Are you just another Bush-basher?

Wait until he says what he'd do. The snippets I've seen lately say opposite. What someone says when at a Hollywood event, and what he'd do when the future of a State is on the line can be different. I saw a funny clip this afternoon. He was at some kind of dinner and he was talking about his wife. He said, "when we got married they asked me if I'd be there in sickness and in Health, till death do us part. Well.. being a Democrat is a terrible sickness!!!!" I like him.

You said exactly what I have been trying to say, only far more eloquently.
In other words, yeah... ditto!
To: sitetest; sinkspur
I was going to answer, but sitetest did a pretty good job. Plus, it probably wouldn't look good to switch right before the election. He has had the Republican side handed to him, so it's to his advantage.
Having said that, he may very well remain a Republican. But it remains to be seen whether he will support other Republicans. He picked as the head of his issues team a man who doesn't not support Republicans, but supports Maxine waters.
To: Registered
You may very well be correct. I have certainly never claimed otherwise.
But I will continue to oppose him because of his anti-life and anti-liberty political positions. Perhaps I will be nothing but a spot on the road, but maybe will have somehow succeeded in slowing the bandwagon rushing to the left a little anyhow.
Oh, and I will call him the 'Gubernator'...
To: Osage Orange
I probably wouldn't..have much respect for a person who thru away his core beliefs, standards, and values..in order to gain a little ground. I would hope that you wouldn't either. My core beliefs are defeating Democrats and winning elections.
To: nickcarraway
But it remains to be seen whether he will support other Republicans. Why wouldn't he support other Republicans? You're just being paranoid, nick.
And you know very well he WILL support GWB in 2004, which will force the Dems to sink tons of cash into the state to hold on to it.

I see where Arnold is outpolling Bustamante among Hispanics, and Blacks. Another irony: Thanks to Maxine Waters, Blacks hate Cruz for his N***** remark. Old Maxine made sure that every black heard about it!
LEGAL immigrants LOVE Arnold and hate Cruz, who wants to welcome all of the illegals, and provide them with driver's licenses to boot! Think Motor-Voter!

Besides, he can ride above the legislature in the polls, and beat them over the head if they don't go along with what he wants to do on the economy. It remains to be seen whether he actually disagrees with the legislature on any issues. McClintock has gotten very specific about what authority the governor has to get things done in California. Hey, I would be gratified if Schwarzenegger came out and said he would pursue McClintock's suggestions. But I'm not naive, so far Schwarzenegger hasn't even indicated he will be a fiscal moderate.
To: Registered
By the way, my friend, I don't hold out any hopes at all that a Riordon-led policy team will even listen to someone like McClintock on anything.
I have believed since this started that conservatives don't have a single thing to lose by supporting a conservative to the very end here. Under any scenario I can imagine, we lose--unless we unite as a movement and actually win this thing.
If Simon would sideline himself for the good of the team, that is still possible. Not easy by any stretch, but possible.
To: Paulus Invictus
The Articles of Impeachment WERE weak. Otherwise he would have been FOUND GUILTY in the Senate.
For a man who conspired with Communists, committed murder, and was in the mob, I would say LYING is a pretty weak charge. Sorry that you disagree.
To: EternalVigilance
'Amendment' only has two 'm's, not three. Even if you don't support it, you should learn to spell it, at a minimum. You are a trog. Learn some basic comprehension skills and then re-read my posts. And I'm sure I have far worse typos you could pick apart. Now go get your dictionary.
To: EternalVigilance
Arnold's agenda is not to the left of Clinton -- how can you say such a thing? You are being blinded by one your one issue and letting it cloud your judgment on other issues.
No Republican is to the left of Clinton because Clinton had no center or anything else. Guess that is why Clinton vetoed partial birth abortion -- he was so conservative. That is pure sarcasm if you haven't guessed!
You guys want to know why some of you have zero credibility with some of the Bush Republicans -- read what you had to say and then remember who vetoed partial birth abortion ban!

*bingo*!!
You've just stated what I have been thinking. You are absolutely 100% correct because Ah-nold is not a politician, but a primal force of nature.
One Terminator good line on TV and the constituents of any recalcitrant Rat in Sacramento will come looking for his head - that will put the fear of the Almighty into the Rats, and they'll fall in line like the Rats did in Congress in '81 for RR.
Out.

It's only a typo if you accidently make a mistake. I would never jump on that, since we all do it. Perfect editing is not an FR requisite. But when you do it repeatedly, with the same word, it is not hard to figure that you don't know how to spell it. Hence my correction of what is a visually aggravating mistake.
Your support of Schwarzenegger leads me to the belief that you don't understand the concepts behind the Second Amendment either.
You can claim to be pro-gun til your face turns blue, but when you empower politicians who despise our God-given unalienable rights, you are in any case functionally anti-gun/anti-self-defense.
To: PhiKapMom
Bill and Hill are not so far left that they have openly endorsed gay marriage and gay adoption, as Schwarzenegger has.
Your 'one-issue' slur is offensive, trite and boring...as well as being a falsehood.
