7 out of the 9 golfers now on the course are already -1 after one or two holes. If this keeps up the cut will move back to even par or one under. She'll have to be 3-4 under today to make the cut.....never happen.

She needs a new caddie--obviously not using the proper irons.

Her husband normally caddies for her. He's sick.

I still think the cut will be at E, that is the lowest the cut has ever been at Colonial..

I don't think she putted on a level to win tournaments.

Nothing more, nothing less.

If play continues as it has been this morning with players already going low, I think you are correct.

Thank you. Next question is why do they have an E ( projected cut ) in the same column? I saw it even before they started this morning. Are they suggesting that the player most likey doesn't stand a chance?

This should be a lot of fun this afternoon with Annika forced to shoot at the pins..

Yep, that's what it takes to make cuts and win tournaments. It also makes things dicey when you're not always hitting from the middle of a fairway or putting for birds from the middle of the green, instead of trying to get up and down from a trap, greenside rough, behind trees, etc.

I don't think she seized the opportunities that she had yesterday. She played a solid round, but many of the highlights showed how precarious her position is with respect to duplicating the performance. She flew a couple of bunkers by about 6 inches, and the golf gods do not let that kind of thing happen too often. As you say, she's hitting low percentage shots, and that may catch up to her.

That said, I'm quite impressed at her first round score. I thought she'd have to play flawlessly to even approach that score, and she nearly did.

Can anyone tell me why numbers are listed instead of a time under tee times ( under the "Today" heading on the chart )?

It means they have already started play on their second round and are on the course now. The number displayed is their current score to par over yesterday and today.

The two columns to the left of the names shows how they finished yesterday and where they stand today.

If you notice, Annika has improved from a tie for 73 to a tie for 69 without having played a shot.

That is because some of the players on the course have now fallen back with bogeys, or bogies or bogii.

She's gotta go for the pins today, could shoot 69 or 79 depending on conditions..

This is what all of these latent liberals who know nothing about golf do not understand. She is just trying to make the cut. I will be very impressed if she makes that cut. But making the cut does not mean she belongs out there, and it certainly does not mean she could somehow win on the PGA tour.

Apart from the fact that just making the cut indicates that there are still at least 70 players who are better than her, it ignores an important fact. Every other player in the tournament is not simply trying to "make the cut." Most would never miss a cut if that's all they tried to do. They are that good. But making the cut does not win you a lot of money. And in this sport, its all about winning enough money so that you get to keep playing without the help of the famous "spnsor's exemption" (which may or may not even be available to you if the officials decide to give it away to an unqualified player in a publicity stunt). Players would rather miss 9 cuts and finish in the top 10 just once, rather than make 10 in a row, only to finish in the bottom of the pack. So they go for broke every round. They fire at flags. If they are lucky, they shoot a 64 like Rory Sabbatini did yesterday. If they are unlucky, they throw up on themselves, like Garcia. Anybody here think Sorenstam is good enough to even caddie for Storenstam? Speak up, I want to know which of the people disagreeing with me are idiots.

Professional golf is a lot like downhill skiing. The player who negotiates the most risk without wiping out usually wins.

The course is kind to controlled golf but she did hit very accurately off the tee as expected.

My guess is she will shoot 73 and miss the cut by 3 strokes.

Since her appearance turned this tournament into a media event, I predict we are going to see more of this.

The E means that their score for the day is par rather than say +1 or -1.

The projected cut is currently +1, so if the combined scores of both days is +2 or higher , mostr likeley those folks won't make the cut.

Annika's total after one day is +1. She'll have to shoot lights out today to make the cut.

ANd while I admit to mixed feelings about it, I hope she does her best.

My 4 handicapped, perpetually on the golf course, no chores around the house, immune from my nagging husband, doubts she will make the cut, but we both enjoy watching her try.

This is pretty exciting, even for me a non golfer, and like American Idol, and Mark Geragos' satanic cult theory, it's a harmless and amusing distraction from real life.

Vice President Cheney just broke the tax cut tie.

The "E" means they are at "Even" par for the round they are currently playing.

As opposed to a minus number for under par or just a number for over par.
