PLEASE Don't Sit out 2004, EVEN IF Bush signs the AW ban extention
4-12-03 | Dan

Posted on 04/12/2003 8:34:45 PM PDT by Dan from Michigan

First, I'm as mad as anyone else about the AW ban. However, STAYING HOME is the WORST DECISION possible.

Whatever happens, PLEASE go to the polls and vote. If you must, leave the president spot blank or vote for someone besides W, but please do not punish the rest of the candidates there who ARE pro-2a, and had nothing to do with this.

The Congress, Senate, State Rep, State Senate, and County and local seats are just as important as the other seats and is the basis of the farm club. If we do not have a solid farm club, we will NOT have a pool of talent to choose from.

Bush seems to have lost track of his voting base... I sure could not vote for a crat like Hildabeast or Pee Wee but I sure will not vote for Bush if this story about the AWB is true.. so that leaves only one choice I will not bother to vote for the first time since 1972.

No fricking way. NOTHING is worth it without the second amendment.

If we're not armed, we're not free.

That's scurrilous to blame me for 9/11. The conversation is over.

I thought you were a "Go Pat!" reformer type..

Why are you voting in Republican primaries?

Well, it appears you did sit out 1996, so in essence you voted for Clinton. Again, thanks.

No, it means you can leave the president blank and vote for the rest of the offices. THAT's what I'm worried about.

I agree with what you are saying of course, yes that would be stupid to stay home. Don't punish others for Bush's mistake.

Worried about people not voting down the ticket because of one individuals insane decision.

I voted for GWB in 2000 and for his dad and for Bob Dole. Now lets make this clear it is one thing for Bush to say he will sign an assault weapons ban it is another thing for such a bill to reach his desk. However, those who would feel betrayed by his actual signing of such a bill might well be the difference in a close election.

It is amazing to see some of these threads where freepers actually think it would be better to have Hillary as president, with this idea "let's pull the collapse of the nation forward in time, then a new conservative majority will be awakened for the next 100 years". Yeah, right, that's gonna happen. LOL.

The RAT will be in favor of banning all semi-auto anythings: rifles, pistols, shotguns, even BB guns.

So it will be sooner rather than later. What's the diff?

A vote against W is a vote for the forces of evil.

If Bush supports the ban, he is a part of the forces of evil. The patriot act was bad enough, if he starts supporting gun control, that crosses the line.

Lets wait and see what happens.

If you wait "to see what happens", it will be too late to do anything about it.

You are equating the assault weapons bad, which is the responsibility of congress to make law on, with the repeal of the 2nd amendment. If there is any talk about going further than they have with this ban, then those who are upset have just cause and I will be right there with them.

What I don't get is why FReepers aren't harping on congressional members. Get them to correct this problem.

I won't sit it out Dan. I'll vote for the Democrap. Sitting it out costs Bush one vote. Voting Democrap costs him two.

Yep, then the ban will be made permanent and no extensions will ever be needed again and we won't have to worry about it anymore. Smart move.

Sad, just sad. This has got to be the most nonsensical thought process I have ever witnessed in 2+ years on this forum

I agree...

I have concluded that one party just does it slower than the other. Better to get the entire mess up front to begin with and see what happens.

As Claire Wolfe puts it, "It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards."

The assault weapons ban is a violation of the second amendment.

If Bush supports it he is anti-second amendment. Cut and dried.
