You are equating the assault weapons bad, which is the responsibility of congress to make law on, with the repeal of the 2nd amendment. If there is any talk about going further than they have with this ban, then those who are upset have just cause and I will be right there with them.

What I don't get is why FReepers aren't harping on congressional members. Get them to correct this problem.

The assault weapons ban is a violation of the second amendment.

If Bush supports it he is anti-second amendment. Cut and dried.

The renewal of the ban itself is "going further" than the original legislation. The original legislation had a 10 year sunset for a reason; it was a compromise to get votes from some congressmen who otherwise wouldn't vote for the Crime bill to which it was attached.
