No flame -- just an observation. One reason NOT to vote Libertarian:
1. You've thrown away your vote on a candidate who will never be elected.

Which is better than throwing your vote away on a candidate that will be elected but never support your values and principles how?

You've thrown away your vote on a candidate who will never be elected. Better than throwing it away on a so-called Republican who'll keep the socialist state intact.

I'm not a libertarian, but you only throw away your vote when you vote for candidates who do not in any way reflect your principles. Although I have significant problems with libertarians on several issues, at least they are committed to limited government and that is more than I can say for Republicans.

1. You've thrown away your vote on a candidate who will never be elected. This is a silly criticism. Voting is not a game and you don't get a prize for voting for the winner. When you vote you register YOUR choice. It is never "thrown away".

This is correct only when you consider an election in the same way you look at a horse race. If your horse doesn't finish first you lose. Would you vote for a liberal if it were obvious your conservative candidate couldn't win?
Your sentiment is the hallmark of an unprincipled voter.

"1. You've thrown away your vote on a candidate who will never be elected." I'm voting Libertarian wherever the Republican is a lock; to vote Republican, in that case, would be a wasted vote.

I only have one problem with what you said. You didn't put it in LARGE, BOLD LETTERS:
1. You've thrown away your vote on a candidate who will never be elected.

A-Men, and let me add that not only will the candidate not be elected, but a Democrat might be. It's really hard for me to understand how people who claim to be so against so many of the things that liberal democrats are for are such willing party's to helping elect them.

1. You've thrown away your vote on a candidate who will never be elected. It's worse than that. You helped get a corrupt, power mad socialist elected, who is stridently seeking to end forever the debate as to what degree there should be freedom in the marketplace and society it general.

You've thrown away your vote on a candidate who will never be electedYou've thrown your vote away your vote on a canditate who may be elected, and defy individual liberty.

You hit the nail on the head right off the bat. No limpertarian has been elected to anything. These limps want to talk about legalizing drugs and as Ann Coulter said, they just want to keep blaming both sides for everything else.

Just a follow up on the absurdity of your reasoning. Would voting in the old USSR would have made you ecstatic? If all voters here were to cleave to this philosophy eventually you would get your wish as we will have only one candidate. Preventing this is the value of the principled (libertarian) voter.

So....
Voting for a Libertarian is throwing your vote away because they will never be elected. And the reason that they will never be elected is because no one votes for them, as it would be throwing your vote away.

Cincinatus:
1. You've thrown away your vote on a candidate who will never be elected. This is a false myth. By voting Libertarian, one denies approval to either the democrat or republican Socialists who pass for politicians in this country. Pollys of the two main parties are socialists and will do what socialists do. Vote for them and you give them your mandate to rob you of what's left of your human dignity. Your freedom is long gone.
BTW, I apologize for the tardiness of my reply.
