[history]
A carefully planned and well-financed campaign to overhaul Michigan's drug laws crashed Tuesday, as the state Supreme Court declined to place the issue before voters in November.
Without comment, the court upheld decisions issued last week by the Court of Appeals and a state elections panel to keep the drug question off the ballot.

sunday drives take people to the hospital? Target practice stops criminals in their tracks? Your idiocy is second only to your arrogance.
To: Kevin Curry

You also know damn well that libertarians want to dump the welfare state and remove the taxation power that feeds it. Another pipe dream (pun intended).
You know that by legalizing drugs you will NEVER "dump" the welfare state but will add to it as the masses of the addicted will need assistance just to get by day-to-day.
You guys really can't see the fire through the smoke, can you?

At last we have an admission that this has nothing to do with personal responsibility (libertarianism, ostensibly).
Um..it helps if you quote stuff, Kevin. That way, I don't have to try to read your appaulingly small mind. However, I'm going to guess you are talking about the question regarding State vs. Federal prohibition.
Pretty much disregarding all the crap you posted, are you essentially saying that States rights are a crock, and must be ignored?
I don't approve of Prohibition, but I could live with State level prohibition, as it is CONSTITUTIONAL. Unlike Federal Prohibition.

It may not close jails, but it will fill those extra cells up with murders, rapists and thieves. Who will be committing those crimes in an attempt to satisfy their "legal" drug habits.

Firearms help protect innocent lives and property, how many lives have been save by the "recreational" use of a joint, crack pipe, or used heroin needle?
Firearms have taken more innocent lives and property than joints ever have.
How many lives have been saved by the "recreational" use of alcohol, beer, teddybears, computer games, music cd's, pictures, model assembly, coffee, cigarettes, fast food, etc etc etc?
To: Olydawg
Uh ... you just made my point. That's what I meant about an absurdity with an absurdity, though in between the hits on your crack pipe you probably got confused.
Your point is about as sharp as a beach ball. Thank you very much for being on the Drug Warrior's side.
To: WyldKard
How many lives has the "recreational" use of fast food, alcohol, coffee and tobacco saved? Hmm, you are always so negative and try to bring down products to the level of your precious drugs, just like a good leftist.
Fast food tastes good and does provide sustenance. Alcohol is used in all manners of cooking and a good glass of wine compliments a good meal. Coffee also tastes good and is uesd in social situations to help ease tension. Tobacco while bad for the health dosen't make one a stoned pot head.
So you see your little knee jerk liberal reaction of saying these products on par with your precious pot is ludicrous, when one looks at the different uses of these products.
But that doesn't matter to you, IMHO. You are on a crusade to replace the ceremonial glass of champagne with the communal bong at weddings.

As has been pointed out before, Hitler was addicted BY HIS PHYSICIAN! Recreational usage wasn't part of the equation.LOL! And this is an argument in support of allowing physicians to prescribe "medicinal marijuana" in the US?
And when marijuana is made available by prescription, no one will be getting high for recreational purposes. No, their purpose will be to treat a myriad of medical conditions from hair follicle failure to cancer. Libertarian magic makes it all better.
The taxpayer still takes it in the shorts.
BTW, Hitler was definitely a recreational drug abuser. Read a decent history of the animal--not those grim nuggets that you glean from sifting through the agitprop in "High Times."

Who will be committing those crimes in an attempt to satisfy their "legal" drug habits.
THe only reason people steal is because the drug prices are so incredibly high, due to the black market. People used to steal, lie and murder for alcohol, back when it was Prohibited.

sunday drives take people to the hospital? Huh I guess you wouldn't help a person in need if you were on a Sunday drive.
Oh that's right you are a Libertarian and are a rugged individualist.

Pretty much disregarding all the crap you posted . . .It's called denial. It's a very common psychological defense mechanism.

I guess you're in favour of criminalizing alcohol, tobacco and caffeine, among other things.

Easy my friend. We don't need YOU banned. I will grant you that Dane is a clymer of the first order but it will only serve the side of evil if you are given a "time out"
To: Hemingway's Ghost
Your point is about as sharp as a beach ball. Not comprehending my third-grade level point, and your witty response is a prime example of the adverse effects of drugs. Please keep it up, you are doing a world of good for the anti-drugs side.

You are on a crusade to replace the ceremonial glass of champagne with the communal bong at weddings.
And the tens of thousands of deaths caused by druken drivers and the spousal and child abuse caused by booze was from those ceremonial champagnes at weddings
Just watch any of the cop shows on TV or the riots at Marti Gras and spring breaks and then ask a cop who he would rather deal with a gang of people on beer and booze who those who have been smoking joints
I don't know about you but I would rather have to be in a crowd ot POT smokers than boozers

the state Supreme Court declined to place the issue before voters in November. A statist court thwarts the will of the people on a technicality and you cheer. What a lowlife.
The tide is turning on this issue. Drug law reform will happen whether you like it or not. The next time this petition comes around, every 't' will be crossed and every 'i' dotted. It will pass.
People have had enough of the tyranical state enforcing the law at the expense of justice.

I don't know about you but I would rather have to be in a crowd ot POT smokers than boozers Oh yeah, so you can say groovy as every other word. Look there is reason why there are more accidents with alcohol, because it is more socially acceptable and ten times more people partake in alcohol.
The latest statistics is that 5% of the population are habitual pot smokers, not the 34% touted by the pro-pot crowd, because that 34% figure is based on people who tried marijuana once.
If your dream of legalizing marijuana ever came true, the amount of accidents caused by drivers going to slow or saying look at the pretty colors overthere and taking thier hands off the wheel would go up dramatically.

I dont want my airline pilot, lawyer or gas tanker truck driver high on drugs. Oh, but I guess having your pilot blow a .23 on the breathalizer is OK because alcohol is legal. You make an art of being obtuse.
