Am I to Understand?

Free Republic and Liberty Post.org

To all:

I would hope your appearances and posting on these pages states your desire to undo years of liberal policies in this land I hope we all dearly love. I would hope that a hundred successful LibertyPost.org and FreeRepublics would advance the cause we all hold near and dear.

From what I have read here it seems many are more interested in fighting each other than they are in advancing the cause of individual liberty and limited constitution government as envisioned by our forefathers.

If my second paragraph is the truth, shame on you.

Let us stop the petty bickering about crap that doesn't amount to a hill of blue beans and get on with the job at hand.

BTW, twodees, I intend to shamelessly rip off your 'wankerama' line...

Take it and welcome..thanks for the compliment. Joe explained that he posted that to the FR folder in good faith and it appeared in Breaking. I shouldn't have suspected the worst in his motive.

I would love to meet these people in person to see what they're like (behind 3" of plexiglass, of course.)

Is there any way to get the anti-libertarians to stop posting nasty (and illogical) crap to threads needlessly?

Best thing to do, IMO, is just ignore them. Not the easiest thing in the world to do, as Kevin Curry's extremely illogical words tend to make me itch as if I had rolled in poison ivy. But they, IMO, have found a crease in the posting guidelines, and are just trying to bait people interested in the honest exchange of ideas. But you cannot have an honest exchange of ideas with an intellectually dishonest poster. Best to just let them sit there and be impressed with themselves.

Yep, it's that old "big tent" idea that the GOP fatboys have been promoting. Drag every liberal soccermom and NAACP whiner you can find into a party trying to pose as conservative and pretty soon, you've got a liberal party. It makes you wonder what their goal was to start with since there could only be one possible outcome.

"I firmly believe that publicly identifying the moderators would ruin THEIR online experience in this forum, and I believe that is what Jim is attempting to avoid. I completely support the concept of anonymous moderators here and understand the logic behind the policy.

#149...~DITTO~!!!

From personal experience, I know for a fact that it's a terrible idea to reveal the names of the mods. If you were to ever do that Jim, give them a chance to resign first, so you won't have to reveal their name if they dont' want it revealed.

Just curious Liberty Forum sounds like a former Freeper whom I won't mentions forum. Just a wild guess though. One that was around under another name or several since?

I don't know. I was invited to LF last year, but didn't like the format and couldn't get it to work for me. They did attract a group of nutballs, though.

First of all Mr. R., I have nothing but respect for you and all you have done. The same with BadJoe and I appreciate you both trying to keep things here somewhat civil. The four years I have been here I have seen disrupters trying to cause friction and "change the dialogue".

I've never been one for "small talk, girlfriends or fluff" but have found myself very attracted to the Canteen, FreepersFinests, and the Daily Dose... Just a break from reading bitter people all over the board fighting amongst themselves when..at this point...I am going to support our president and...while it is not unconditional...want to give him a chance...

I just finished reading a Richard North Patterson book "Protect and Defend". He is an exlawyer and I've always enjoyed his books because they were not only interesting but well researched and thoughful. I had a tough time with this one because it deals with circuit courts, a supreme court nominee, the abortion issue and makes republicans look "radical". I stopped reading it about a month ago but finished it today out of boredom because we had a 5 hour drive home. I actually would recommend everyone read it BUT read the acknowledgements at the end first AND try to keep an open mind in reading. As I said...I was ready to throw it against the wall halfway through...but after watching the Owens hearing the other day....its great insight into how dysfunctional our systems are across the board and how we, as activists, need to change itl.

It's my opinion that for me as a "conservative" or more accurately, a "Constitutionalist," my job is to pass along that information that I consider useful to those that are receptive to it, and where they are receptive to it, then move along

Agree completely. I had a very uplifting experience when I was protesting a visit by Slick to Denver University. When I arrived, some students were arguing with some anti-Clinton protestors from Shadowgov. One of the students came over to me, read my sign and said "Well, you have a legitimate point of view, but they don't!" I responded that the Constitution does not differentiate between legitimate and illegitmate points of view (a notion diametrically opposed to liberal indoctrination). He looked at me for a second, and then a light came on, and he proclaimed, "Well, then I can call them a****les!" I smiled as he walked over and started ragging on the shadowgov guys. "Exactly, kid, exactly." It was really cool for a kid to start to discover his rights, after having his university fill his head full of the notion that he could only state acceptable blather...

I agree it dominated the front page for a while. It was smart to move it elsewhere so that the forum could get its feet on the ground. Those posts have been going steadily long since the FR stuff was moved to the smoke filled room, people are still posting there, fully aware its not on the front page. I think it is unfair for you to say that FReepers came over there trying to ruin the forum, rather the people over their attempted to counter falsehoods. Joe posted a nice thread saying keep your eye on the ball, and I haven't seen any of the people you called FReepers, Bob, ANV, and me over there taking over other threads that are on the main forum. Heck I agree with BADJOE, I wish the place well.

"We are NOT anti-semetic. You may have us confused with LibertyForum, which I understand has a lot of that, but I have not visited there. I am Jewish, and would not condone those actions on LibertyPost.org. "

I have not seen your site, I was speaking about the one frequented by the likes of TBF and other people whom I personally find to be markedly beneath contempt.

The continuous warring among ourselves just makes it that much easier for the Left to waltz its way to power over and over again.

Except that they aren't. Except for Clinton, they hadn't been in the White House for a generation. They lost both houses of Congress in the last decade, and only hold one by a thread now because of a defector.

Ann Coulter said something good about this in one of the interviews she did recently. Somebody mentioned how the right is always sniping at itself, and her answer was that this is why every new major policy proposal for last twenty years has come from the right.

When you stifle dissent, you stifle ideas. This is why people are up-to-here with "political correctness." It is stale, and it can't change, because to those who live under it, "incorrect thought" is impermissable.

We should go right on fighting amongst ourselves, and sorting out our ideas, and dealing with new ones. This is how we win.

technochick99:
Is there any way to get the anti-libertarians to stop posting nasty (and illogical) crap to threads needlessly? It's usually on a negative thread on which no one has made a libertarian point, and is typically very insulting to libertarian posters. And yet, they appear never to be told to stop. Ruins many a decent thread, if you ask me.

This bothers me greatly, too. The problem could be that since libertarians are not the type to go whining, "Mommy, he's bothering me," the mods' never know what these "seminar" posters are doing.

There's a catch 22 aspect to this situation.
- At one point, months back, I started retaliating by using 'abuse' on the more loonie/nasty part of anti-libertarian faction.
I was soon given a 'time out' for 'abusing' abuse.
- Mea culpa, but machiavellian nevertheless. That policy has since been changed, - maybe.

Hah! That's rich. "Personal attacks and insults" are your first and last names and inflicting pain is your game. Abuse reports from people with unclean hands are not taken seriously. If you want to be taken seriously on this forum you might think about cleaning up your act.

Sniper, rdb3 and Don Joe are talking about Liberty Forum. They don't know the difference between LF and LP and won't listen if you tell them.

I don't think they were trying to ruin the forum. Actually, if I had to guess, I would guess that the ones I mentioned simply showed a huge disregard for the forum and used it as a venue for their ongoing feud. The first to show up posted under a phony screen name but he had a very recognizable writing style. The AFers showed up at exactly the same time as the FReepers. That stuck me as suspicious. I'll bet these people who carry on this pointless argument email each other with invitations. They all seem to know each other very well. The argument is very boring to those who aren't party to it, regardless of the intended purpose for dragging the argument onto a new forum.

I was commenting to BADJOE about the whiney little splinter groups of malcontent libertarians that form these little wannabe forums, and you chimed in as though the RLC was the same darn thing.
If you can't keep track of your bait, you shouldn't go trolling.

I didn't 'compare' them at all, except that they are all 'groups'. - Obviously, the RLC is not a forum.
-- But if you want to call the forum founded here at FR by JimRob, - a "whiney little splinter group of malcontent libertarians" - feel free.

To me, that kind if nasty bull just proves my inital point, not yours.
