Free Republic and Liberty Post.org
To all:
I would hope your appearances and posting on these pages states your desire to undo years of liberal policies in this land I hope we all dearly love. I would hope that a hundred successful LibertyPost.org and FreeRepublics would advance the cause we all hold near and dear.
From what I have read here it seems many are more interested in fighting each other than they are in advancing the cause of individual liberty and limited constitution government as envisioned by our forefathers.
If my second paragraph is the truth, shame on you.
Let us stop the petty bickering about crap that doesn't amount to a hill of blue beans and get on with the job at hand.
But someone refered me there and I walked in on a bunch of the same old, same old and naturally attributed it to the mindset and perogative of the site owner.
What I saw though was really bad, it was your typical, incestual af'er deal like the one they had on yahoo at one time. So I figured that was the point of the forum.
(I had no idea all this stuff went on with regard to FR till someone pointed it out to me. It's amazing what goes on out there.)
And those folks are just trying to goad posters. They have found a crease in the posting guidelines where they can incite flames. There's always a couple of them in any group. Best to ignore them like the yapping Yorkies they are.
Some people got tired of dealing with Roscoe, Dane, TexasForever, CulturalJihad and their ilk and went looking elsewhere. The common denominator over there is a desire to return to the free-wheeling, pre-moderator days where the extremists from either left or right were taken to task with logic and humor. Displaying for the internet the fallacies of their beliefs - which is much more effective for conservatives than people seeing "Post #XX removed by moderator." That just allows idiots like Mojo to scream censorship and accuse the forum of some sort of sinister agenda; rather than display the true nature of the posters.
I guess part of it depends on whether a given forum is going to be a debating society or a more targeted effort to effect change. This stuff is still in its infancy. JimRob wants to teach it to walk so it can go somewhere. It still remains to see exactly how far Internet-driven activism can go - but before FR can go there, it has to pick a direction and start walking...
They do have their own site, but they won't allow any opposition to their far-fetch conspiracy theories. It's AFer only.
As far as just letting go and ignoring them...that would be fine if they just offered constructive criticism. Heck, I did that myself for awhile. Unfortunately, they've gone to a new public site (with potential) and regurgitated their same vile slander about fraud, confidence scams, and other criminal and civil acts allegedly perpetrated by persons connect to FR or FRN.
They just recently posted a private (not web based) personal resume of good decent man and claimed he was fired from his last job. In the same thread they blatantly suggested that someone "slept her way to the top"...unfriggin believable. They make up whatever crap they want to fill the huge gaps that exists in their very limited behind scenes information. They went over the line along time ago and pop up where ever they can to spread their absurd accusations and conspiracies.
Those of us who have been following their obsessive/compulsive behavior for some length of time are starting to think there is something really really wrong with them, especially the head AFers.
However, I don't think incidents of abuse are a "small" matter. They go to the overall image of this forum. There are plenty of anti-big-government individuals out there who are squeamish about joining a forum if they log on and the first article they read has words like 'f*g' in it. It's just not a sign of a respectable and responsible organization.
So, now you have brought it over here?
I will gladly say that these same people you list do NOT mention your name likewise, although they could.
Why do you intend on starting trouble?
Idiots are going to scream censorship anyway. Even if posting over here became completely laissez-faire, the AFers and other assorted idiots would merely find some other excuse for why their views weren't found to be popular by other posters. You simply can't have posting policies based on the lowest common demoninator; otherwise, the forum becomes unreadable.
There are other forums and/or Usenet if you want completely ruleless, unrestricted posting privileges.
Whoever the original author of this post, this Joe Phillips, must be a complete pantywaist! A good argument is fun once in a while, it maintains the mental warrior's edge, and furthermore, he sounds like Rodney King. There are entirely too many sensitive little wusses on conservative discussion sites these days. Our enemies are the ones who are supposed to be thin-skinned...conservatives are supposed to be the tough ones!
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I am relatively new here, been lurking about a year and posting some since March. I support what you said in the above paragraph 100%. To let it turn into an unmoderated "wild west" site, or to allow running arguements and flame wars, would ruin it. Think 'signal to nose ratio' - keep the noise down to a dull roar so we can focus on the salad-I-mean SIGNAL.

All I know is that I do not want this country to move anymore to the left, I want to stop the government from acquiring powers that can and will be used against them if an unsavory character gets into office, I want the educational and cultural institutions returned to the people, and I want to stopped being raped evertime I pay my taxes.
As far as different factions of the right go: I am practical person. Lets work together where we agree, and put up or shut up with your logic if you want to argue.
And...I am sure I am on many lists. heheh.
You hit the nail on the head. But I think I have a solution.
The first part is that we on the Right come to the realization that no matter what our stance or principle(s) say, we won't get everything we want immediately. Second, let the warring factions among our ranks spell out what's most important to them, then codify those stances into something workable. Third, HOLD THE LINE, meaning, stick to this goal no matter what. Lastly, move upward on that which was built.
The continuous warring among ourselves just makes it that much easier for the Left to waltz its way to power over and over again.
Now it's up to us.
I agree with you on both counts. However, I would like to add (and this is just my opinion) that there are individuals on the so-called 'right' (that term is so nebulous) who are also anti-liberty. But more importantly, our current leaders in DC are enacting - or trying to enact - laws that can be misused with disastrous consequences if an anti-liberty administration were to ever ascend to power. We may have confidence in the good faith of our current administration, but we've no way of knowing what the next (or the next..) will look like.
How about just giving them a number so someone besides yourself knows who is pulling threads...Tell me how THAT interferes with your goals, Jim. I see an awful lot of confused people asking what happened to freepers, and threads...I'm sure the majority of banned people earned it in spades, but it wouldn't hurt to let people learn from others mistakes and keep their own tally on what the unwritten rules are that are actually causing people to be thrown out...I'm not saying the rules are intentionally concealed but they are subject to different interpretations and I see that with different shifts of AM's. With Respect...SS
It's actually pretty easy...just this am I checked the FR section and there hadn't been any recent posts - Harrowup had posted some drivel and no one had replied.
I didn't even know that BADJOE had posted over there until I caught wind of it on, gasp, a FR thread. The sunspots seem to occur when one side or the other intentionally posts something to draw the other side out.
You can avoid all the foodfights pretty easily if you want to.
