Am I to Understand?

Free Republic and Liberty Post.org

To all:

I would hope your appearances and posting on these pages states your desire to undo years of liberal policies in this land I hope we all dearly love. I would hope that a hundred successful LibertyPost.org and FreeRepublics would advance the cause we all hold near and dear.

From what I have read here it seems many are more interested in fighting each other than they are in advancing the cause of individual liberty and limited constitution government as envisioned by our forefathers.

If my second paragraph is the truth, shame on you.

Let us stop the petty bickering about crap that doesn't amount to a hill of blue beans and get on with the job at hand.

It also has a clique of anti-semites.

Don't stop there, DJ. It also has a band of vicious bigots. I was invited there, but I hurried up and got out of that place.

Ha! I work in software, and some in the industry love to change the documentation of how things work and magically make a bug into a feature!

Honestly I am not capapble of assessing that, and I don't think any one person here can do that other than Jim. (Although a combination of people that do experience different aspects of FR would be valuable to tap for feedback on this question.) I do not read every thread on FR, I miss plenty.

Its actually a difficult assertion to make that the mods are uneven, so I am cautious. For example, if I see a post was removed from a thread I have no idea why. It could be the poster has asked that it be removed, there was something innappropriate said (racist, sexist, personal information), or the like.

There is no way for me to follow everythread that was pulled and assess whether it was a "just or unjust" act in pulling it.

To make it short, I would say that I lack the necessary information to even make that assertion.

Didn't mean to have you on the to: line of the last post. Sorry. Seems to me there is an easy answer to that. Jim owns the site and can probably verify that information. Why don't you ask him to?

And if he does and you still have issues, or if that would not be sufficient to you, then you probably shouldn't be on his website, I would imagine.

Actually, what happened is several individuals who were tired of the "your with us or against us" mentality of the clones (CJ, Roscoe, Texas Forever, etc..) started up a forum. There was never a "bash FR" mindset from the creator - sure there was some "I got banned for this BS reason" back and forth originally, but mostly you have people posting news articles and commenting on them - without fear of running afoul of some ever-changing posting standard.

The AFer's found out about it and so did BobJ and his "peoples." Both sides exploited Neil's "free speech" policies to bring their pissing contest to that site since neither side would open up their respective sites for such a free-for-all. They clogged up the latest posts so bad that Neil has created a sub-topic where both sides can have at each other without their diatribes showing up in the latest posts page...stop back by and check out what's going on now.

Thanks, I might stop in if I can stay clear of that stuff...

I wouldn't want the people who have put in time and effort to do this job to suffer harrassment on the forum. I think they would be harrassed, goodness knows what sort of whining and moaning they listen to in those abuse reports. They don't need their own posse of harpies following thme around here asking "why why why why."

Speaking from personal experience, I can assure you that if the moderators were publicly identified, they would no longer be able to participate in FR as "ordinary" posters to any significant degree.

It is no secret that I used to be a moderator on the CNN forums. Before I was asked to become a moderator there, I lurked and posted in the various forums for over a year. After becoming a moderator, I was REQUIRED by written directive not to post at all unless I appended "CNN" to my screen name. The purpose of that was to avoid even the appearance of favoritism in my replies to other posters, even on completely non-controversial subjects.

My stint as a moderator over at CNN was enjoyable and enlightening and I don't regret it for a moment, but it essentially destroyed whatever value I might have had as a "voice in the crowd" to the various debates and daily life there, and it censored me from disclosing my true opinions on many matters, which bothered me enough to drive me away from participating over there at all.

I firmly believe that publicly identifying the moderators would ruin THEIR online experience in this forum, and I believe that is what Jim is attempting to avoid. I completely support the concept of anonymous moderators here and understand the logic behind the policy.

My long-term goal is to restore Liberty and limited government as envisioned by our founders and set forth by them in the Declaration and the Constitution. I see the liberals, marxists, leftists, tinfoilers, revolutionaries, et al, as enemies of the Constitution and want no part of them.

My current short-term goal is to eliminate as many leftists from our government as possible. The way to accomplish this is to vote them out. The criminal enterprise also known as the Democrat Party is the American home of the leftist. I want to make them extinct or at least rare birds. That is my number one immediate goal.

The third parties are too weak to accomplish this, so I see supporting the Republican Party and their candidates as the only viable vehicle for accomplishing the task. I know that there are moderates and liberals within the Republican Party too, and that there are people there who may not share the visions of the Founders to the degree we do, but I believe that if the conservative majority is large enough they can be overcome and or voted out.

I also believe that the Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) is a good idea. My understanding is the RLC was started by Ron Paul and their goal is to elect as many Liberty-minded candidates on the Republican ticket as possible. That's exactly what I want to do and is where I'm headed with FR. I do not want to be sidetracked fighting off a bunch of leftist or tinfoil propaganda. And I do not want to waste my time with liberals or anti-freepers. Those who don't appreciate the direction of FR are certainly free to post elsewhere. The Internet is a free market of ideas. We cannot be all things to all people.

I was made aware of Libertypost by a banned freeper, and after reading many of the posts there, it seems to be like other AFer sites; spending more time criticizing people on FR (by name) than they do what (many non Libertyposters) on FR do, which is outlined in the goals of FR. I have read the remarks posted there by John Rob. Amazing! But not surprising!
The majority of what I have seen there are only personal attacks on FR members from afar, much of it would get the person banned from here, IMO. Yet some of them engage in those tactics and still posts here.

Libertypost is a whiners club, IMO, bonding together around a central theme; people who don't get to run FR the way they want too, or have to take their bitterness elsewhere.

BADJOE, how about asking some of the FR FAB members to stop giving out personal info over there? Ethics starts at home.

I respect what JR and the AMs are TRYING to do here. But the methods and motives are not always in sync.

I am referring, in part, to the FRolk who carry their vendettas/animosities from thread to thread ... and there have been times that this has gone on for WEEKS and MONTHS, while other lesser problems like you refer to are dealt with expediently. &;-)

There is a large spectrum of information and opinions out there. It is far wiser to judge them on a case by case basis, then to say they suck because they aren't FR. It's good to argue your position, if only to see how it holds up against attempted refuation.

Ahh, but then you run afoul of the "with us or against us" clique over here that resorts immediately to tangential and obscure insults rather than debate if you criticize a current administration policy. Be careful with posts like I've highlighted above, you'll be on their watch list. ;^)

Some people got tired of dealing with Roscoe, Dane, TexasForever, CulturalJihad and their ilk and went looking elsewhere. The common denominator over there is a desire to return to the free-wheeling, pre-moderator days where the extremists from either left or right were taken to task with logic and humor. Displaying for the internet the fallacies of their beliefs - which is much more effective for conservatives than people seeing "Post #XX removed by moderator." That just allows idiots like Mojo to scream censorship and accuse the forum of some sort of sinister agenda; rather than display the true nature of the posters.

JMHO

:^)

Here's another 'libertarian' splinter group, right here at FR.
You gonna be 'squawking' about them too, willie?
REPUBLICAN LIBERTY CAUCUS POSITION STATEMENT Address:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/rlc/721810/posts

It's no secret that I differ with this group on the issue of taxation and trade.
Additionally, they apparently have chosen to not state a position on either the right-to-life or illegal immigration issues.

Yes, there is no doubt that libertarian influences have skewed the perspective and priorities of this group. Dangerously so, IMHO.

There is no need for me to elaborate in further detail on this thread.
I express my opposition quite vigorously on threads addressing those issues.

Again, I commend you on a rather simple solution to the problem of the Republican Party's lip-service to conservative goals - smaller government and increased individual responsiblity.

I just hope you've got the energy to deal with some of the CINO statists on the forum that aren't going to like FR being associated with the RLC.

Good luck.

I absolutely agree. We need to remove the leftists ASAP, get as many conservatives/GOP in office and secure the supreme court.

However, I think we can have our cake and eat it too. Criticism of RINO's and GOP policy is what keeps them in line. No sense in having someone with an R after their name if they would vote for some Ruth Ginsberg or against a Scalia. They need to know what they have to do to keep us voting for them.

So as I see it, EVER PERSON ON THIS WEBSITE SHOULD MAKE IT THEIR PERSONAL MISSION TO NEVER LET A RINO WIN A PRIMARY ELECTION.

I have seen FReepers take care of trolls and disruptors with aplomb. I am always proud of them!

Right on! And I've been told I was being hostile when I didn't think I was being that way and have tried to amend my ways(feedback encouraged people). I've seen flamewars and I find them embarassing for all parties. People who can't drop an issue and keep stalking fellow freepers and disrupting threads should get some serious warnings and it should eventually result in banning but I'd want things to go right to the wall before I'd squelch freedom of speech...And I HAVE been stalked and threatened by a banned freeper who refused to stop even after his internet service was interrupted...he came at me AGAIN under another ID and I got him pulled and investigated...the system works! I say let it run, Jim Rob. But I LOVE MY PEEPS...Just don't threaten other peoples pets with violence...My impulse control isn't quite good enough to control that reflex, yet...

Let Freedom Ring, and BE POLITE!!! Ain't that tough...
