Well, I don't think there's much public support for carpet-bombing countries on the grounds that they practice female circumcision, so what would you suggest?
Maybe you're just not familiar with feminist causes, but female mutilation is certainly one of them. What would you suggest they do? Is supporting a large military going to stop female mutilation? I don't think so.
I lump modern feminism with social progressivism. I think it's safe to do so. And I find social progressivism odious.
What those who claim to speak in defense of women can do is to loudly and unapologetically declare our Western way of life to be superior to anything in the undeveloped world and to unapologetically declare that the undeveloped world should adopt them.
I have known women able to do this but never one who strongly identified herself to be a "feminist".
Generally, I have found those (men and women) who make a point of declaring themselves to be "feminist" to be self-centered, easily manipulated twits. But that's just my opinion.
The point of supporting a strong military is to keep others from imposing their values --like female circumcision -- on us.
I know there are a few out there speaking against it, but's hard to hear against the cacophony of voices screaming "choice!!"
