I lump modern feminism with social progressivism. I think it's safe to do so. And I find social progressivism odious.
What those who claim to speak in defense of women can do is to loudly and unapologetically declare our Western way of life to be superior to anything in the undeveloped world and to unapologetically declare that the undeveloped world should adopt them.
I have known women able to do this but never one who strongly identified herself to be a "feminist".
Generally, I have found those (men and women) who make a point of declaring themselves to be "feminist" to be self-centered, easily manipulated twits. But that's just my opinion.
The point of supporting a strong military is to keep others from imposing their values --like female circumcision -- on us.
I think they do that already. The fact is, most feminists, when talking about 'feminist' issues, are talking about domestic 'feminist' issues. Ask them about foreign treatment of women, and you'll get exactly what you're asking for -- women demanding that these bass-ackward countries evolve a little. There's plenty of press about feminists trying to use the UN to sway opinion on these, and other feminist issues.

Well, yeah, and I support a very large military force, too, but whether we can fight a one-front war or a two-front war, I doubt that female circumsicion will be making heavy inroads in the West. The military angle is a bit of a non-sequitur for feminists.
