A migrant mother who has received $30,000 through a Massachusetts housing assistance program is now asking for more help.
Nadine, who declined to share her last name citing deportation fears, moved to the United States from Haiti in 2021, the Boston Globe reports.
She has been living in a subsidized three-bedroom apartment in Dorchester, regarded as Boston's most diverse neighborhood, with her four-year-old son for the past year.
Nadine received $30,000 in aid through Governor Maura Healey's HomeBASE emergency shelter program which can be used towards monthly rent payments, security deposits, associated broker's fees, furniture purchases and more.
HomeBASE offers recipients an up to two-year rental subsidy, but Nadine has claimed her funds ran out in just 10 months and she is now on the brink of homelessness.
She lost her job as a home health aide in April and her boyfriend is no longer residing in the home, making it hard for her to cover her $1,000 share of the $3,000 monthly rent.
She has now turned to a refugee resettlement organization for help, claiming that HomeBASE 'was a dead end for me'.
HomeBASE recipients are required to dedicate at least 30 percent of their monthly income towards their rent. The program will pay the remainder.
The program will provide $30,000 over the course of a two-year period, but in cases like Nadine's the money isn't lasting that long.
Families can contribute a larger percentage of their monthly income towards rent if they so choose, which Nadine suggests could stretch the stipend further.

America has such a shortage of low IQ welfare dependents, we need to import more.
America is just one big grab bag for these loafers.
I wonder what the numbers are on people who work and pay taxes, fleeing the state of MA?
There are a lot of young adult US citizens who are living with their parents because their full-time job -- which they got with a college degree -- doesn't pay enough for them to afford the rent for a studio apartment.
Ah, isn’t it wonderful, the government uses our tax dollars to support criminals. Money better spent on deportation. Oh, forgot, you don’t deport your voter base. That’s right isn’t democrats?
Do they have any vets who are financially struggling?
If they have either category, what on earth are they doing giving such sums of money to foreign parasites?
Spot on
It’s on the Massholes dime, so Jimi crack korn.
How do I get 30k for housing?
It’s sound like Nadine the Illegal Alien came to the U.S. to Pah-Tay. The Gringos are a bunch of idiots. They throw money around like it grows on trees.
Was the ho living in a three thousand dollar rental in Haiti? Why the flock does she need one here when she is living on the backs of the U.S. Taxpayers. Deport her skanky butt.
Why would program administrators house an unemployed single mother with one small child, in a 3 bedroom apartment? Did that maximize the kickback from the landlord?
Since the illegal immigrant couldn’t hold a job legally, how did they think this would end? If she could even find a job, it pay less than the cost of child care.
Need to find and prosecute all the grifters involved in this type of thing, and deport the devd weight.
Most American citizens don’t make $30,000 a year
She hasn’t seen $30 in her entire 3rd world life and sucked up our benefits like there is no tomorrow.
I am sure she gets free food, free medical and free everything so what did she spend the money on.
Ship her back and her spawn.
While actual poor citizens making less than 30000 a year are being kicked off medicaid etc, these people are being showered with all the aid they can grift.
2 people, 3 bedrooms.... hummm...
Growing up poor we had 1 bedroom for my mom and my 2 sisters and we kids had the bedroom.
PS, my mom refused any welfare, too proud.
When our apartment burnt down and we had to move we begged her to take help from the red cross. She Barrowed 600 dollars and paid them back! Who pays the RC back?
“Need to find and prosecute all the grifters involved in this type of thing, and deport the devd weight.”
The first to prosecute is the governor Maura Healey & Co. who created these programs that rip off the taxpayers.
