Justin Trudeau calls Donald Trump 'dumb' and vows to escalate trade war with massive tariffs

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delivered a strong rebuke of President Donald Trump's decision to level punishing tariffs on their country.

He cited the Wall Street Journal to criticize Trump, and call his decision 'dumb.'

'Donald, they point out that even though you are a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do,' he said angrily at a press conference on Tuesday.

Imports from Canada will now be taxed at 25 percent as Trump's tariffs went into effect on Tuesday.

'Today the United States launched a trade war against Canada, their closest partner and ally, and their closest friend,' Trudeau said. 'At the same time they're talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir Putin a lying murderous dictator. Make that make sense.'

The United States imported $412 billion worth of goods from Canada in 2024 according to the US Census Bureau as they are the third largest trading partner with the United States.

'Canadians are reasonable and we are polite but we will not back down from a fight, not when our country and the well being of everyone in it is at stake,' Trudeau said.

Justin Trudeau spoke directly to the American people, blaming President Donald Trump for making the decision to level tariffs, warning it would hurt the country economically.

'We don't want this. We want to work with you as a friend and ally and we don't want to see you hurt either but your government has chosen to do this to you,' he said.

Trudeau announced that Canada would begin implementing 25 percent tariffs against the $155 billion of American goods, starting with tariffs on $30 billion of goods immediately.

Millions of Canadians shop in the USA. There traditionally hasbeen no duty payable on food items and groceries.
purchasing US dairy products and US poultry products.

Trudeau is detested by these Canadians because they now must pay a 25% tariff on even the groceries they buy in the USA.THey save a lot of money during inflationary times.

These tariffs are designed to punish Canadians who traditionally shop in the USA. Trudeau is lying when he says this will effect USA jobs etc. WHat he is doingis punishing CAnadians , ordinary men and women, who have shopped in the USA to pay less for grocery items, milk, eggs and cheese.

You can see the 25% tariffed items here.Once you look them over you can see that they are designed to hurt Canadians, not the USA.

Canadians HATE Trudeau. Now they hate him even more.

See Canadian tariff lists here:

Personally, I think The Donald has gone overboard with our closest neighbor. I would have had a conversation first, before dropping a sledge hammer.

Trudeau is too stupid to be governor, let alone PM.

Close the northern border of the U.S.A.

Stop Canadians from shopping in the U.S.A. where they save money over their bloated Canadian prices.

Stop the Canadian “snowbirds” from clogging American roads and RV parks.

Well, we’re not trying to be liked. We’re trying to gain our lost respect. In geopolitics there are no “friends”, only alliances. Like we had with the USSR during WWII.

Have you seen how European defence stocks are doing compared to US ones lately? American ones are crashing and European companies like Rheinmetal are up by as much as 66%.

Trump is destroying trust between the US and its allies and they are turning away from reliance on US companies towards their own and those of more reliable and stable allies.

This spiteful temper tantrum whilst trying to look alpha is not winning America respect or commercial advantage. It is causing America’s allies to close ranks against an ally that has gone stark raving mad by practically aligning itself with Vladimir Putin, who despite what some people here might think, has the exact opposite of good intentions towards the US.

Delusional:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/politics/government/canada-s-liberals-bounce-back-after-years-of-decline-what-s-going-on/ar-AA1AehjZ

Trump’s actions are breathing new life into the left amongst America’s allies and against those political leaders who are associated with Trumpism. And I don’t say that with any joy because I despise the legacy parties that Trump is boosting with his hostile actions against every other country in the world except Russia.

This “conversation” has gone on for the last 60 years.

10 US Presidents have listened to the lies and broken promises of Canadian Gov’ts on NATO and NORAD committments.

+200 bil trade deficits for years and years.

drugs and illegal immigrants for years and years.

It’s like the EU promising defence spending increases.

Times up !

(and I, for one, welcome the Anschluss)

Justinia could profit from some advice from Jesus from the Bible. But he won’t take it.

(In this case the “other king” is coming with an army of 120,000 against 10,000)

From Luke 14:

Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace.

We’ll agree to disagree on this one. I personally think this is a necessary move on our part. Poland had some harsh words for their European brethren.
