President Donald Trump fired Coast Guard commandant, Admiral Linda L. Fagan, almost immediately after taking office, but she did not hear about it until she was at the Commander in Chief Ball that evening.
Fagan found out she was fired as she was waiting to have a photo taken with Trump at the ball, according to a military official speaking to the New York Times. Fagan did not respond to a request for comment.
The Department of Homeland Security sent the bulletin featuring news of her job termination to the Coast Guard leadership the morning after Inauguration Day
'She served a long and illustrious career, and I thank her for her service to our nation,' the message read from acting DHS Secretary Benjamine C. Huffman said shortly.
The department revealed in a statement that Admiral Fagan was removed because of 'leadership deficiencies, operational failures and inability to advance the strategic objectives of the U.S. Coast Guard' including a failure to secure the border and stop drugs from entering the United States.
The statement also accused Fagan of failing to recruit and retain personnel and had an 'excessive focus' on DEI programs.
Admiral Kevin Lunday, Coast Guard's No. 2 in command, was named acting Coast Guard commandant in her stead.
Biden nominated Fagan as Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard in April 2022, as her supporters hailed her as the first female admiral in a position of leadership of one of the armed forces branches.

How’s that resistance working out for you sweetheart?
“… a failure to secure the border and stop drugs from entering the United States.”
She can say she was surprised all she wants. She took the oath of office. It’s her fault. Not Trump’s and not the voters. Hers. There has been an invasion. She has done nothing
It’s really simple, is the person in charge supporting National Security and the directions of the Commander in Chief?
No: You’re fired.
Yes: You might keep your job.
Good riddance. Now on to other admirals and generals.
“She found out as she was waiting to have her picture taken with President Trump.”
Did she still pose for that pic, or was she too
discombobulated and whacked by her new status?
She may have had the same expression as
‘our old friend’ Nancy Pelosi did, when Nancy found out that Trump had won the election, crushing Kamala completely.
Lol 47 should have waited til the photo of was about to be taken and said YA FIRED!
No sympathy at all. This one was proud of her dedication to DEI and to hell with what it did to mission effectiveness.
Must be nice to be fired and still get paid.
How come she didn’t know?
Was she ‘working’ remotely (shopping for her evening gown) and did not read her emails?
If she was at her office her coworkers would have informed her.
I’ve seen ship’s Captains relieved of command bec a harbor pilot runs his ship aground. The person at the top is always the one responsible!
Of course, they had to make it sound like Trump is at fault for the delayed notification.

This Kind ‘The Door!’

How was it sent? USPS? I doubt it.
I read that we won WWII with 7 four star generals.
Now we have like 40 of them.
Maybe we should go back to 7?
This DEI zealot has totally screwed up the Coast Guard Academy
No. The cool thing would have been to let her get set, then have Donald walk in with the new guy and tell her to move out of the way.
“Fagan found out she was fired as she was waiting to have a photo taken with Trump at the ball...”
Sweeeeeet!
Being at a ball is just a little corner of hell. Poor baby got bad news at A BALL.
