Criminals are looting millions from ATMs in Europe. Here’s why Germany is a prime target

In the early hours of Thursday, March 23, 2023, residents in the German town of Kronberg were woken from their sleep by several explosions.

Criminals had blown up an ATM located below a block of flats in the town center.

The attack caused severe damage to the building and forced the evacuation of its inhabitants. According to local media reports, witnesses saw people dressed in dark clothing fleeing in a black car towards a nearby highway.

During the heist, thieves stole 130,000 euros in cash. They also caused an estimated half a million euros worth of collateral damage, according to a report by Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office, BKA.

Rather than staging dramatic and risky bank robberies, criminal groups in Europe have been targeting ATMs as an easier and more low-key target.

In Germany – Europe’s largest economy – thieves have been blowing up ATMs at a rate of more than one per day in recent years. In a country where cash is still a prevalent payment method, the thefts can prove incredibly lucrative

Europol has been cracking down on the robberies, carrying out large cross-border operations aimed at taking down the highly-organized criminal gangs behind them.

Since 2022, the detainees are believed to have looted millions of euros and run up a similar amount in property damage, from 2022 to 2024, Europol said.

The criminal network used locations in France as “hideaway spots” and relied on getaway cars hired from a French rental company, according to the statement.

Europol says that perpetrators have mostly been using solid explosives, mainly derived from fireworks, to explode the cash-filled machines – a dangerous tactic that results in heavy damage. In 2023, the lootings in Germany caused 28.4 million euros worth of secondary damage alone, according to BKA.

I know that this kind of theft is rampant in the US as well, but usually with a pickup and chains.

This article seems to be propaganda for the elites who want to label cash machines as an "attractive nuisance" so they can ban them.

My wife and I were stationed in Germany from 88-91. We walked the sidewalks of Kaiserslautern in the evenings window shopping and enjoying sidewalk cafes. Never once did we worry about crime or muggings, they were almost non existant at that time. Then along came Angela Merkel....

Unless several ATMs were robbed at one time, 130,000 Euros is a lot of money to be in one ATM, it’s not like one Dollar equals 500 Euros,

At current exchange rates 130,000 Euros would be over $140,000 USD, which seems like a lot of cash in one ATM.

“Gosh. This is so terrible. Hey ... maybe I have a solution! Maybe if we just make all cash illegal — then we wouldn’t need ATMs at all!”

Countries used to keep these kinds of bastards in jail until the “civil rights” azhos came along and scared the hell out of them.

In 1969 I was in Sweden and dropped my wallet while shopping with in-laws in a store. My wallet was returned to me before we left the store. I had lots of cash in wallet since I did not use credit cards in those days. The cash was all there.

Funny how it’s never mentioned these gangs are mostly Moroccan.

“During the heist, thieves stole 130,000 euros in cash. They also caused an estimated half a million euros worth of collateral damage”

The obvious solution is to keep the ATMs unlocked. Right? England tells homeowners to keep their sheds unlocked for the same reason.

Yes a story such as this, would be part of justification to go to all digital currency. Banning ATMs and discouraging use of an actual currency, would be part of that.

Maybe we’re already on the way to that transition. Some young people especially, seldom use actual currency or coins.

A lot of people don’t write checks anymore. They pay ongoing bills electronically.

Germany could easily solve this problem by importing even more criminal gangs from third-world hell holes. After all, that policy worked beautifully for Sweden.

So it should work for Germany.

Germany has increased their diversity so much now much of the big cities are crime infested no go zones run by gangsters from islamic nations and Africans. There has always been the gypsy thieves but they weren’t violent. They just ran their scams and pick pocket rings. Now, the Germans get to enjoy the thugs from all over the Islamic world.

It was the same when I lived in Switzerland way back when. Totally safe. Same nearly everywhere in all of Europe.

That began to change in the late 1990s when the narco-mafia KLA out of Kosovo (dubbed “the scourge of Europe” by Interpol) began operating in much of Europe, drug and gun smuggling and human trafficking, complete with shoot’em-ups here and there. For some reason, we decided to become their air force.

Migration from Muslim countries was also underway, very much so by the early 2000’s. Then Ms. Merkel opened the floodgates wide. We fomented civil war in Syria and bombed Libya into a failed state, so there were plenty of “refugees” in the flood.

It’s so sad what has become of Europe. I’m glad I got to see it when I did. No interest in going back now.

That's about 30 inches of $20 bills. I can see that fitting in an ATM with no problem. 5 6" stacks. Plus Google says that Bank ATM's can hold between $50,000 and $200,000.

Wow, all those native Germans are real crooks. After all, our media and leaders (not sure which leads which) assure us that the perps couldn’t be immigrants...specially ones of certain religions from certain countries. So, nothing to see, move along, move along.

When will we ever learn?

But, when we do...journalists and leftists had better get to a corrupt country of their choice.
