Hundreds of thousands of students across the US will be forced to wear face masks in class when schools go back this week as controversial mandates make a return.
Despite Covid infection rates plateauing for months, elementary and high schools in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania have made face coverings a condition of entry for students returning from the holidays.
Education officials claim the policy is to prevent a boom in respiratory illnesses after increased mixing during the first normal Christmas and New Year in years.
But there is little evidence that face masks actually reduce infection rates, and mounting research shows the mandates stunted children's social development and education, and robbed them of vital immunity to other seasonal bugs like flu and RSV.
There are growing concerns that damaging Covid policies could creep back into American life after the US Government announced all passengers from China - suffering a major outbreak - would be tested upon entry, despite no proof that policy works either.
Paradoxically, masks and lockdowns were blamed for the surge in minors because it prevented them from developing the natural immunity they would have otherwise gained.
Over the second weekend of December, Washington state, Los Angeles and New York City issued fresh recommendations urging residents to start masking up in indoor public spaces again.

Mask mandates and other covid measures should have been shoved down liberals throats during the election, but instead it was barely an issue. Now the left is bringing them back.

One perhaps now trivial point is that very early on, a great deal of confidence was wrongly placed in the “expert” opinion of one Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the small clique that surrounded him. As head of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a division of National Institute of Health, he had a specious claim on being in charge of the “science” of managing what was touted as being a “pandemic”, on a par with the Spanish Flu of 1918-1919.
As things turned out, the disease itself was not nearly as deadly as had been forecast, but the measures called for by Dr. Fauci and the other “experts” proved to have little or no value in containing the spread or intensity of the disease, while what were found to be effective cures were disparaged and even actively forbidden to medical professionals who were using them, to the point where these professionals were stripped of medical licenses and driven out of medical practice, or even convicted of malpractice and some were heavily fined or incarcerated. When the attempt to find some sort of vaccine was undertaken, a very novel approach, in which the antigens to the disease were based on a particle of the virus, a “spike” protein, and not the virus itself, was used to form the basis of the vaccine.
This “spike” protein turned out to have some very nasty side effects, attacking the nervous and circulatory systems of many of the vaccinated patients, and proved to be more deadly than the COVID-19 virus or any of its variants. At this point, the use of the vaccine SHOULD have been withdrawn altogether, but in the rush of the moment, it was touted as a “cure” and “preventative”, of which it was neither. People still got the virus infection, and it was never proven that the injections had any effect on the intensity and duration of the course of the disease. But the side effects went on and on.
There is much to be answered for, but because very wealthy and influential patrons bought into the myth of the efficacy of the mRNA vaccine early on, it may be years before the mischief wrought by this misuse of what proved to be largely a dead end in application of medicine, is ever mitigated and brought back into perspective.
Masks do not work. It’s a proven fact.
