While the incoming House GOP majority will likely eliminate proxy voting, an analysis of all the proxy letters sent to the House Clerk during the 117th Congress reveals that 77% of House GOP members used the practice, with 45 of them having sent more than 20 proxy letters.
Furthermore, three of the five most frequent GOP proxy voters initially voted against the proposed rule that allowed for proxy voting to take place in the House.
Among the 213 Republican House members in the 117th Congress, 164 of them have submitted at least one proxy letter. In other words, 76.99%, or 77%, of House Republicans opted to vote by proxy at least once during the last Congress.
For those 164 members, 45 of them submitted 20 or more proxy letters over the last two years.
The following five GOP representatives submitted the most proxy letters, in their party, during the 117th Congress:

They get elected and don’t even have the balls to vote for themselves. Lord, our nation is becoming more and more pathetic.
I some some of them and you will defend them by saying how busy they are. Somehow prior to this our representatives could vote in person because it was important. Now? Meh, whatever.
The following 40 GOP House members sent a total of 20 or more letters during the 117th Congress:A couple of names I did not expect are on the list. The remaining 119 GOP House members that took part in proxy voting sent fewer than 20 proxy letters during the previous term.

H. Res. 965 only allowed for members to vote by proxy if they were doing so because of the pandemic. As a result, most proxy letters sent to the House Clerk included the sentence, “I continue to be unable to physically attend proceedings in the House Chamber due to the ongoing public health emergency.” …
I’m disgusted but not at all surprised to see DesJarlais’ name on the list. I hoped for someone to primary him this year but no one did. I want him gone. He doesn’t represent our district, only the OUT OF DISTRICT/OUT OF STATE big-money campaign donors. I’ve blasted him for it more than once.
“Jamie Herrera Beutler (W. Va.), 26 letters”
Let’s not disparage the great state of West Virginia.
RINO Jamie Herrera Beutler is from Washington state. Fortunately, she will no longer be returning to congress. She was beaten in the primaries by Joe Kent.
Kent lost in the general, thanks in large part to Kevin McCarthy, but I digress...
The only proxy voting should be if they are in the hospital. Otherwise, go to the capital and do your job.
We also knew who won the elections the day after they occured….
where’s the stats on the dems
It was started because of Covid...but that’s over.
Disgusting
And entitlement
Impeach them for dereliction of duty.
Impeach them for dereliction of duty. Make them repay their salaries to the taxpeyers.
Considering such things and the near panic that has been thrust upon the American public over Covid, I would expect proxy votes and teleconferences in the Capitol
Solutions could include kicking the old dead blood out of office to bring in younger people, improving the HVAC system in Capitol buildings, and quelling the panic over Covid.
That’s why Pelosi literally had the votes in her pocket.
The house and senate have twisted the rules so much that it doesn’t work like the congress that our founders intended. Can we keep the republic? The democrats are for one a one party socialist state with censorship. The republicanss are like scooby doo,, rouh rowe raggy, there’s a mystery to investigate.
This is a primary issue that should be used to clean out the RINOs from the party.
