Four Oklahoma men who were last seen riding their bicycles more than a week ago before being shot dead and dismembered were planning to commit a crime, police have said.
Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice said the bodies found late last week in the Deep Fork River are those of Mark, 32, and Billy Chastain, 30, Mike Sparks, 32, and Alex Stevens, 29.
The men were believed to have left a house in Okmulgee on bicycles the evening of October 9.
The police chief said the official cause of death was pending but that all four men had gunshot wounds and that their bodies had been dismembered.
It comes as a scrapyard owner who was named as a person of interest in the case has mysteriously vanished.

Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice told a news conference: 'This is now a murder investigation.'
Police also interviewed a man Friday who owns a scrapyard in the area, but that man has since been reported missing and may be suicidal, Prentice said. No charges have been filed.
Joe Kennedy, 67, owns several scrap yards in the area. He has not been named a suspect in the case but he has also not been able to be located. The chief asked the public to report any sightings of him.
A blue PT Cruiser that he was driving was found behind a business on Monday afternoon in Morris, Oklahoma, about six miles east of Okmulgee
Prentice said investigators believe the men intended to 'commit some sort of criminal act' that night.
A witness told police that the men invited him to join them and would 'hit a lick big enough for all of them

I think he panicked and cut them up for easy transport to the other side of town to the river. They refer to him (scrapyard owner) as being suicidal which means he probably already had a loose screw when he caught these low lifes ripping him off and blasted them. I’ve had some time to think about it. It’s all over the news
Four adult males riding around on bicycles at 8:00 in the evening was the tip-off for me that something was unusual with this story.
He may not have any dogs.
Rural Oklahoma’s finest. Don’t know where they come from. I think there is a farm for them somewhere down around Colgate or some place like that. Could be about anywhere and probably several locations. Some mother’s son.
Okmulgee used to have a pretty good BBQ and then there is the Tech school.
These are part of the people who exist. Nothing more, they just are.
And they were able to determine it was the remains of 4 males even before positive id’s were established so it must not have been little small pieces. Probably used a chainsaw to remove limbs to make it easier to load into his pickup which was found in Morris abandoned. I ride my motorcycle through there sometimes looking for room to open it up so this creeped me out at first but I common sense told me this wasn’t random before many facts were known
I knew they must have been up to no good - 4 adult men at least one with kids out running around on bmx bikes on Sunday afternoon. It just seemed weird and my first thought was meth or fentanyl deal gone bad

Why would men in their 30s go out at night riding bicycles? Looking at their pictures that behavior seems out of place. Did they all have their driving licenses revoked or something?
Could have been Arkanside.
....the killer must have cornered them to be able to dispatch them all.....unless he had help...
