Spain is planning to introduce medical leave for women who suffer from severe period pain, media reports suggest.

A draft bill says women could have three days of leave a month - extended to five in some circumstances.

But politicians warned that the draft - leaked to Spanish media outlets - was still being worked on.

If passed, it would be the first such legal entitlement in Europe. Only a handful of countries around the world have such legislation in place.

Wait just a second here. Men need equality in their menstrual cramps...three days AT least!

It will develop that ALL women have sever menstrual pain, or at least all women who work for the affected employers.

I’ve had hangovers that lasted for days. Does that count?

How can they do that without offering menstrual leave to men?

Any woman who has that kind of pain for more than two days needs to see a ob/gyn and find out what’s wrong.

It will be abused widely.

I’m guessing the pains only happen on weekdays

The origins of 10 sick days per year for teachers stemmed from menstrual period.

That’s ridiculous what with the number of days off teachers get.

There’s hardly a month where they work all five days for each week of the month. There’s always some sort of holiday or long weekend or staff development day.

My friends just think for a minute. Taking them away from the workplace for those few days would be good for the others. Everyone’s more productive and so are they returning with a guilt complex. Think of it as a win-win. I’m way ahead of ya, right ladies?

Older women wouldn’t get it-discriminatory. Do hot flashes count? Older women are more manly so there will be more production out of them. Us mens are the steady workers like the .300 hitter. Women will be the power ones, produce in streaks.

Think Rush and the Amazon battalion.

I’d have loved that. It would beat being curled in the fetal position under my desk very often, hallucinating.

In the UK and US it’d apply to trans men (guys -> women).

What about sympathetic/supporting menstrual leave for men?

Men need time to psychologically prepare for when women go into PMS. And time to recover as well. Not to mention time to obtain chocolates and other crave-ables.

In some cases coworkers should be forced to take this leave.

Perhaps there should be wellness checks. And early warning alerts to coworkers.
