Are we living in the age of stupid? The era of the idiot? The answer of course is yes, with examples of monstrous moronicism everywhere – from climate deniers to the “plandemic” crowd who believe Covid-19 was cooked up in Bill Gates’ basement.
On the other hand, human beings have always been illogical creatures. A better question is whether we are, as a species, becoming dumberer. If this is already the era of the idiot, what comes next?
An “Idiocracy”, according to film-maker Mike Judge. The Beavis and Butt-head, King of the Hill and Silicon Valley creator’s dystopian 2006 comedy (which he directed and co-wrote with Ethan Cohen) arrived with its own terminology to help us prepare for the upcoming reality TV special that we may call The Collapse of Reality Itself.

Suggesting that morons rather than nerds will inherit the earth, and that the results will be catastrophic, the film begins with a context-setting intro so real it hurts.
Judge cuts between an intelligent adult couple discussing why they won’t be having children right now (“not with the market the way it is”) and a ... less intelligent couple breeding like rabbits (“I thought youse was on the pill or some shit?”).
Observing that “evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence”, the narrator explains that “with no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most – and left the intelligent to become an endangered species”.

I used to watch the european version, but only once a month when Nigel was berating Herman Van Rompuy
Guardian, being part of the dumb-down problem, tries to remain aloof and point the finger at the poor, sad, ignorant masses.
Typical Marxism - causing the problem and then condemning those affected by the problem.
But it’s got electrolytes.
“morons rather than nerds will inherit the earth”
Also applies to viruses...
The Delta variant has more reproduction than others.
I’d say the climate alarmists and the vax Nazis fall into the idiot category.
Flame all you want. 0FG.
The smart people who think their own exhalations are a threat to humanity also believe men can give birth.
Are we talking about the movie or some series I’ve never heard of?
Brando has electrolytes... It’s what plants crave!😜😂🤣😂
Wow!
It would make such a great series!
Of course no sponsor could pay for it though. The “cancel culture” freaks wouldn’t allow it.
Its Urban Dictionary entry reads: “A movie that was originally a comedy, but became a documentary.”

We can only hope.
NO there are several problems
First: Government has become the arbiter of what is good science and what science will study by deciding what science will be funded (grants).
Second: The press has become the megaphone for whatever bit of science says that industry will be the death of the world. Thus has the consensus of catastrophism become the science of today.
Third: The mainstream media has been subsumed under the socialist ideology of the higher education system. The media that was to be the watch dog of government and warn the public of the dangers of a growing totalitarian state has become the promoter of exactly that.
Forth: The higher education system that is supposed to teach the up and coming generation how to think has become indoctrination centers that teach the up and coming generation what to think. Now instead of a new generation learning to question the wisdom of the previous generation we have a new generation being taught to hate anyone who questions the wisdom of a socialist-Marxist generation entrenched in their ivory towers issuing decrees to dismantle the racist-capitalist system that has made the world into the safest and wealthiest civilization to ever grace the Earth.
In November 1964 Ronald Reagan said:
Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so!
It’s as true today as it was then. Unfortunately today it is almost impossible to refute what they say and be heard.
Spot on!
“Yet your fellow citizens say ‘The way of the Lord is not right’, when it is their own way that is not right.”
- Ezekiel 33:17
I was a bit confused when someone said they watched it every month. Thought they were talking a series. Been a long tine since I watched the movie.
>>Are we living in the age of stupid?<<
I don’t think so. The American people have come down to earth and are tasting reality.
Up to 2020 we have thought of ourselves as the greatest nation on earth but now we know that we are as vulnerable to political upheavals as anyone else. We see a halfwit dictator as our leader, innocent people shut down in cold blood in our Capitol, held without trial in an unknown place and we start to realize that the horrors of nazi Germany can easily be repeated in flyover country. We know now that we are not all noble warriors a la Band of Brothers on a mission to free countries from oppression by defeating evil regimes. We know that we can easily become one of those regimes. It’s disappointing, huh, that we don’t walk on water and that we put on our pants one leg at the time. No, we’re not living in the age of stupid. We are living in the difficult age of reality. Hang in there America like many of the less fortunate nations in the world have to do. You still have many advantages over them. But realize that they can all be taken away by some of the nutcases you voted for.
