French magazine Charlie Hebdo caused social media outrage Saturday over its front-page drawing of Queen Elizabeth II kneeling on the neck of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
A caption on the drawing translates to “Why Meghan left Buckingham.” A quote bubble near Meghan’s head reads, “because I couldn’t breathe anymore.”
In the photo, shared on the magazine’s Twitter account, a menacing-looking Queen Elizabeth II pins Meghan down with her knee. The image is a cartoon recreation of George Floyd’s death when a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes during a May 25 arrest. […]
Social media users slammed Charlie Hebdo over the drawing, with some calling it racist.
“Words cannot describe just how disgusting I found that Charlie Hebdo cover. Punching down and constantly drawing racist caricatures it’s not satire. It’s called being a d---,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Charlie Hebdo is a disgusting newspaper that promotes Racism, Xenophobia, Islamophobia and sexism. For years it has made fun of many serious social issues that exists in the world, whilst making millions of dollars,” another posted.
One user said the cover was “absolutely disgusting.” …

IIRC, Princess Elizabeth became Queen in 1952. I’ll check.
If I were Prince Charles and the Queen, I would have
been calling my lawyer after that interview and cutting
Harry out of the will.
They need another run-in with terrorists.
It is rare for me to step into my sons family goings on but there was one time when my teenage granddaughter was back talking her mother in my presence......I finally spoke up firmly saying to my grandaughter...”You may talk to your mother that way but you will not talk to my daughter in law that way in front of me!”......she backed down of course and never again did so after that..
There sometimes when one needs to speak up.
If you’re pissing off everybody, you’re probably doing actual journalism. anyone, anywhere, in authority should be viciously mocked
The lady knows how to shoot as well.....
She was a member of the army’s women’s core during the war, before she became queen. She drove an army vehicle of some sort, if I’m not mistaken. She’s always been a trooper, in my book. I’ve always had a lot of respect for her. She has common sense, and does her duty, with very little grousing, IMHO.
I believe Prince Philip is very ill, and suffers from dementia.
Je ne suis pas Charlie.
Best laugh I’ve had today. Really clever cartoon regardless of the point made. Kinda equates liberals to jihadi Muslims too.
If they’re happy with each other, they need to just shut up and live their lives. Going on tv and airing their family grievances is tacky, to say the least. I would have thought that Harry was raised to know that, but then his mother wasn’t the best at keeping her problems with her family out of the media. (Not that it was always her fault, what with the press covering her every move). But a stiff upper lip was NOT one of her attributes.
Let that be a lesson -— choose your mates carefully, princes and princesses -— they may know how to act neither nobly nor discreetly.
I knew he had a heart issue but not the dementia....sad hearing that.
I don't see this marriage working long term unless Megan and Harry stop trying to find notoriety on the backs of the Royal Family. They certainly aren't making much stride in Hollywood. Who would want to work with them after this! Diana had to contend with Camilla in her marriage....so Megan cannot be seen in that same light by any means.
I married into a well to do family.....and it's no easy task fitting in. I never was out of my hometown where these people went on shopping trips to Chicago and NY. I was so over whelmed with the skyscrapers and designer shops I could hardly breath! I was 18 yrs. old.
But Megan was already accustomed to the high life.....she really has no excuse except she didn't get her way when she announced she was going to hit the ground running....to change the Royals. She gave no allowance for the culture change and that was her fault.
LLLLOOOLLLL!!!!
God, I have not laughed so hard in a while.
Thanks for posting this gem.
Megan was always a royal pain in the neck to the Royals so it would be fair turnabout if they gave her a ‘pain in the neck’ in return.
Talk about a gold-digger. She would have been a one-woman Gold Rush at Sutter’s Mill.
It's called "being c*nt-struck."
Regards,
I suspect something more diabolical still. She was exposed to a lot of the Hollyweird paganism as a child; her parents were into it.
To paraphrase Hanlon's Razor:
One should not attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by the stupidity of inbred royals.
