He’s negotiating for the 2024 nomination. He doesn’t know that Trump supporters will stay home so he will be running to lose an election.

Mike Pence wasn't even a candidate in the Republican primaries in 2016 -- the best opportunity anyone ever would have had to get the GOP nomination in an open field of candidates.
I'm sure he knows better than anyone that he doesn't stand a chance in hell of winning the Republican nomination -- let alone getting elected President.
Then of course that's when the media will tie him to Trump again and he'll be destroyed in the General.

The only way Pence would have gotten a 2024 nomination for President is if he were totally loyal to Trump, and helped him secure a second term.
