As the waters in Houston and surrounding areas begin to recede in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, there's no doubt looters are getting ready to take advantage of empty homes. Some looting has already started.
But one Texas Sheriff has a stern warning for those who seek to prey on victims: You do so at the risk of your life.
"We've heard of looting around the greater Houston area, specifically Harris County. But as far as Fort Bend County, we haven't," Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls told Fox News Saturday.
"I made a comment the other day that we support the Second Amendment here in Fort Bend County and there are many of us that are armed. I would would caution those that want to come and prey on our people here in Fort Bend County that are suffering so much right now, you may want to stay out of Fort Bend County because you could leave this county in a bag," he continued.
God bless Texas.
Nehls's stance is especially refreshing considering firearms belonging to citizens were confiscated during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, leaving victims defenseless as lawlessness quickly took over the city.

Then why the 900+ day delay?
“There is a very natural response to anyone a man finds trespassing on his land.”
Hopefully the man’s understanding of “trespassing” isn’t too strict because if safe passage fleeing from imminent death lies across his land many people won’t care who owns the land and the land might soon belong to his heirs.
“Hopefully the mans understanding of trespassing isnt too strict “
As I understand, simple trespassing does not give you the ‘right’ to shoot.
Got a link about that?
“The truth may never be known, yet each side believes he knows it.”
That’s the problem, but it has noting to do with “sides.” It has to do with “justice.” Swift justice as prescribed by the Constitution. I would be surprised if a few of those who were charged were not found guilty, but the majority of those who were arrested on “a single blanket warrant” (which in and of itself is illegal) are quite likely victims of circumstances that were beyond their control. If all of the actions of the police were taken in accordance with existing laws, it is indeed beyond the pale that now, nearly 900 days after the event, that no one has yet gone to trial. Whacko goes completely against the Constitutional mandate that you are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

And now that he’s been “kicked” off these first trials, the accused attorneys are moving to have him removed from all the cases pending.
Thanks. Abel Reyna belongs in jail as far as I’m concerned.
What is your source please?
But if the NC state legislature is has a GOP or conservative majority, not going to happen.
“are quite likely victims of circumstances that were beyond their control. “
ROTFLMAO! How many were ‘forced’ to join a criminal gang?
“it is indeed beyond the pale that now, nearly 900 days after the event, that no one has yet gone to trial. “
Defense attorneys have no incentive to bring it to an early trial.
” If all of the actions of the police were taken in accordance with existing laws, “
Which police actions were against the law?
In WW2 the British would shoot any looters durning the Blitz. I say that we should bring that back. Too many people who have lost much stand prepared to lose everything due to these parasites. Shoot them all.
Git-er-done! I just like the phrase. I love Texas!
Mebbe so but you can git shot in Harris just as easy as Ft. Bend.
“There is a very natural response to anyone a man finds trespassing on his land.”
If you mean shooting them, the `castle’ doctrine applies to your home—not your outbuildings and curtilage: yard, fields, north forty, etc.
That doesn’t mean you can’t have them in your sights.
