No, the Venezuelans TRIED socialism and didn’t like it. In the second election Chavez cheated and used Jimmy Carter as an “unbiased” observer who piously pronounced the election to be fair. The problem was that TWO polls had Chavez down by 8 points going into Election Day and he won by 8 points. Thanks to Carter the honest people got the middle finger and the downward spiral accelerated.
Now the honest Venezuelans want out of socialism. We must pray they can break free.
