Over 10,000 killed in Kiev’s punitive op - Ukrainian MPs
Russia Today ^ | 8-8-2014 | RT

Posted on 08/08/2014 9:46:41 PM PDT by tcrlaf

More than ten thousand people have been killed in Kiev’s punitive operation in southeastern Ukraine since April, said a Ukrainian parliamentary group. The MPs addressed the president urging to declassify information on citizens killed.

The Ukrainian parliamentary group “For peace and stability” said on Friday that the figure was given by volunteer groups working in the east of the country, ITAR-TASS reported.

“We have estimated that just in the first two weeks of July nearly 2,500 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the area of the ‘anti-terrorist operation’,” the group said in a statement in the Verhovnaya Rada (Ukraine’s parliament).

“The number of wounded during the same period was more than 5,000 people. Thousands of civilians fell victim to military actions. Most of them died from shrapnel wounds. Thus, the preliminary number of the Ukrainians killed during the anti-terrorist operation, is more than 10,000 people according to our estimates,” said the co-chairman of the parliamentary group, Sergey Gorokhov.

The MPs also addressed Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and the government, urging to “declassify the official data on the amount of people - civilians, Ukrainian soldiers, and everyone who took part in the anti-terrorist operation – who were killed.”

Gorokhov stated that the president receives a report on the people killed in the operation every day, but it is classified. Meanwhile, the families of those missing in the military operation zone petition the government each day in the “hope that their close ones will be found,” he added.

Gee, I can’t tell if the OP thinks the 10,000 dead happened in a day as implied in his comment or was it since April as the article says. But you’re getting the clue on disinfo or else you’re being sucked in. You and others on this thread are consuming precious time in discussing something that is false. That is a purpose of disinfo.

Yarosh's Nazis can stomach Ukrainian Orthodox but not Catholics and Russian Orthodox or what?

I thought Nazis were against all Orthodox and Catholics so how are getting more than a handful of followers in Ukraine, that's something I've always wondered about.

Are they sending chechens to you also, as they did to the Georgian people?

Don't confuse my passion as that of a Ukrainian. I've only been out of Texas once in my entire life, and I am Hispanic.

But to answer your question, yes, they are or were sending Chechens to Ukraine to fight as well, though, most of these guys in this picture might already be long dead:

This picture was taken early on, not long after Crimea, I can't remember when though.

"All good Muslims need to be exterminated".

Exterminated?? Wow, one Muzzie hating another or you just have to lie when anyone doesn't agree with your loving approach to a plague?

“It’s only been going on for three months,”

Actually it has been going on much longer than that, but you know that already.

If the coup had never happened, a Ukrainian Flag would still be flying over Crimea, and there would be no civil war.

Now, you will, yet again, try to control the language again by shouting the Kiev/nazi propaganda that:

A) The coup wasn’t a coup
B) The Actual Nazi’s in charge in Kiev, like Parubiy, aren’t actually Nazi’s, and if the are, they have no power.
C) Those are not mostly Ukrainian Citizens fighting because they oppose the coup, but “Russian Invaders”.

I think the primary beef here and what is upsetting the posters who attack you is pretty much as they have stated about your reliance on RT and other pro-Russian outlets.

For me while I agree that it's Russian propaganda, I think my criticism runs a bit deeper.

I am not so sure you really understand European politics.

While some activists on what is called the European far right, associate themselves with Hitler, openly and defiantly, there are reasons for it politically.

It's a anti-communist movement, that goes back decades. Hitler was anti-Communist, as was Mussolini, one of Hitlers mentors. But it does not mean that the European right supports everything Hitler did or thought, because the NAZI party, long defunct, was a socialist movement.

When you bring Putin and today's Russia into the mix as their adversary, the political divide closes back up because Putin is also European style right wing. So the real division is really over the rights of the sovereign state of the Ukraine as it always has been going back to Stalin and earlier.

The constant harping about the nature of this European right wing government with alliances of necessity with the more ultra right wing “Beastie Boys” is the same sort of alliances you will find in any right wing coalition in Europe, although they tone it down a bit.

In Europe the right is always associated with Nazi's, but in the US the liberals tried but failed to make that association here, however they actually believe it, and think it every day.

This nasty vengeful attitude stems from Hitler's hatred of Communists so it follows that the US liberals and their communist alliances, would naturally have that view.

So what you really have in Kiev, is not a Nazi issue. That is a diversion that is fostered to damage support for Kiev.

The real fight is between Putin and Ukraine's nationalist desires to remain independent and free.

On the other side you have Putin and alliances with his Russian supporters in the Ukraine and of course the communists align themselves with Putin...as do the Chinese Communists.

So you need to make up your mind about who to support without letting all this Nazi stuff affect your judgment.

I have done so.

This guy, as I mentioned in my other post, isn’t some regular guy who is just confused. He is a person who wants to confuse, which you will see shortly.

So you're saying their nationalists and socialists but not really Nazi type national socialists. Ok, they use the banners and such of the Nazis in Germany because they're recognizable or to associate with nationalism under the German Nazis, or what?

I hear what you're saying, I just don't get why they want to associate with symbols that are outlawed in Germany, for instance, if what they agree with is mostly the assertive nationalism they figure they have to emulate in order to remain independent.

Please do elaborate.

The Ukrainian parliamentary group “For peace and stability” has 34 members (Ukraine’s parliament has 450 delegates).

FPS is just over a month old. It seems that they are asking for casualty figures from the fighting in Ukraine to be declassified.

They have their own estimates of casualties from the fighting: some 2500 military and 7500 civilian.

Are FPS right? Are they wrong? Don’t know. RT also presents other, lower estimates sourced from the UN.

Anyway, that’s what the article is about. Seems straightforward.

The claim is 10,000, over the course of the Civil War.

I also asked if anyone could provide info about what the UKRAINIAN PM said about this today, in the UKRAINIAN RADA.

I mentioned in that post that these neo-Nazi groups are defiant, as in they don’t care about the association. They use it to their advantage and they are on both sides of the playing field. I think I mentioned that Putin is not communist nor a socialist and that he too is European right wing.

The Ukraine majority therefore is right wing but their allegiances are split between Putin and Kiev. There is always a communist block as well and they go to Putin as a matter of identity with the old ways.

All that said, the Nazi issue has nothing to do with this, but it’s being used by Putin to damage support in the US because everyone knows that nobody in the US likes Nazi’s or swastika’s. Hell they don’t even like the iron cross.

To summarize, or try to, the Nazi issue is a propaganda canard. It clouds the basis of the obviously created civil was to destabilize the country and allow Putin to come in and save the country.

I forgot to add to that last, by saying that I don’t think that Putin taking back the Ukraine is a good idea for us long term of for the Ukraine in both the short and long term.

I read the article. Like FReepers do.

I imagine that the OP was referring to the timing of the request/claim by FPS, not the putative 10,000 dead. Anyone who read the article would know that no-one is claiming 10,000 dead in the last day or so.

The only time I’ve had to waste on this thread has been asking for more signal and less noise.

The article turns out to be about a request by FPS for declassification of casualty figures. Unfortunately we all had to wade through multiple shriekposts before getting to that.

So, basically they attract attention and tell everyone to get screwed if they don't like them at the same time. Makes sense.

Thanks

They don’t care about the symbolism.

It’s said and done so often that it means nothing.

It’s the European politic that have used and over abuse the Nazi label for so many years that it no longer holds meaning “there”.

The only place it’s a real issue is here.

The propagandists know this and keep pressing the hot buttons in English and for our consumption.

Take it out of the argument, and what do you have?

It’s a fight for independence.

It’s a fight for independence."

Oh good, LOL, who should be independent from whom arguments.

I get it, it's a meaningless symbol there that works well in photos and BS sent here.

How's it work on Russians, has it been worn out there? Are they pretty much using the "Hammer and Suckit" the same way?
